Martial OR Weghorst? 👇
Weghorst. Easy. Martial is PURELY useless mainly because HE NEVER PLAYS. DONE FULL 🛑
Weghorst is perfect for physical games to draw and break up defences with height and strength, allowing people like Rashford and Bruno to get closer to the box in space. In those games, his link up play has been vital.
However, one of Ten Hag's few mistakes was playing him in every game. Fast paced, intricate games leave him isolated. It's why he went missing against Newcastle and why he also had minimal impact in games like the Arsenal game.
Even without Martial fit, we would have been better playing Rashford up front rather than on the left.
It's hard not to argue that Martial's ability is at least one league ahead, though.
Open your eyes Stephen. You don’t need data to see how much better Martial is than Weghorst.
Weghorst is arguably the worst striker I've EVER seen in United's shirt in the premier league era.
2 opportunistic goals in about 20 matches (same all season whilst at Burnley).
Zero goal in the premier league.
Abysmal pace.
Terrible ball carrying ability.
Zero dribbling skill.
Got fouled or failed to complete a pass every single time he took more than 3 touches with the ball.
Almost zero knowledge when it comes to finding space as a striker.
Not a single headed attempt on target for a striker that tall. (Peter Crouch; who is of similar height in contrast probably scored more goals with his head than any other part of his body).

I much prefer Martial as a striker but he's never available so this isn't really a debate to have 🤷
The fact that we're debating between:
A player who is good, but can't play.
Or
A player who can play, but isn't good.
Just shows how desperate we are for TWO strikers in the summer 🤣
If the premise is that Martial is fit, then Martial every day of the week.
Lads I'm watching Sunderland v Hull city and my God, Amad looks like an absolute baller. Can see he's getting more physical. Inverted Rw/no. 10. Goals and assists tonight. Gotta factor him in for next season or the year after latest. I think hes got star potential.
If both were fully fit and ready for selection Martial is a better option for almost all styles of modern football at the top level than Weghorst.
But if you're not fit, you're not in the conversation. Remember how many games we won with Wout STARTING. Trust in Ten Hag.
I would replace both if we have Sheikh dollars though.
Ask yourselves why isn't there anyone in the academy who is a true 9 do we just look for wingers ?
Need to get rid of martial. In all the years we've had him the max number of games played is 33 in 1 season not even a full prem season ffs. We regularly play over 60 games a season. So says it all really. Fully fit and flying no complaints but he's never even completed a full season since we bought him.
Could you rework Wout into a 6?
Rather have Maguire playing at number 9 than Wout, Maguire would arguably do a better job up there.

Weghorst does a job for the team but when fit Martial is by far the better striker. He just needs to stay injury free
Yeah, let's compare a 2M loanee with a player that 7 years ago cost 36M. I'm sure it will make sense

Neither of them are our #9, sadly. Martial is out all the time and is inconsistent when he is fit. Wout is available ALL the time, but doesn't get us goals lol
Wout Workhorse ……………….that is it . He is honest and his teammates seem to like him . It is simple at the moment , Martial spends a lot of time injured and Wout is available . Of course he is not a patch on Martial but it is apples and oranges . Wout has played in a lot of wins . Leave to ETH .

I play martial all times when physically possible. Weghorst tries but ain’t the level. Back up til end of season.

Just realised when people say (not necassarily you) the top 99%, it means the same thing as the bottom 1%, so it should be the top 1%, though everyone know what you mean
Yeah weghorst has been consistent ever since he has been on loan to Manchester United,no doubt Anthony martial is a great striker but he has been plagued with inquires i think weghorst is good defensively but not clinical in front of goal

Y'all keep saying 'the best ability is availability' but the facts are that at a club like Manchester United, simply being fit & available will only get you so far….the 'quality ability' makes the difference
Martial can be world class. He is usually good when he plays.
Weghorst can't be world class if he is given a century of game time. Weghorst is at best a championship-player.
Course if martial is injured weg will play. That's not an argument to say he's better when he's fit though
So happy that still has smart fans of Man United as Stephen
