Jamie Carragher believes it’s the manager and not the owner that changes the culture of a club and feels Antonio Conte shouldn’t have joined Tottenham.

  1. I think part of the problem is the ownership, but I think the fans demanding 'attractive football' is also a part of it. These trophy winning managers won't work at Spurs as long as that is required, except maybe Guardiola, but he won't go there with the budget. Can't see how things change at Spurs

  2. Wasn’t Conte supposed to be the one who’d turn around the culture?? 😂
He called them out for their mentality and they sacked him!
Their only hope is another Poch type where they can build a long term team without any pressure to win

  3. The question still remains what promises where made to Conté that made him go to Spurs in the first place?I don't understand why hé decided to accept the offer because he's a serial winner.Mourinho & Conté can't go to war with this squad of players .They might have to go back to appoint a type of Klopp or Ferguson to have time to instill their philosophy into the club.A bit like Pochentino's first reign, even though hé did not win anything.

  4. Some amount of fans showing cognitive dissonance in saying that Mourinho and Conte were passed it at Tottenham when Conte won a Serie A breaking a juventus stronghold just before and Mourinho went away and won a European trophy with a medium sized Italian club 😂
It is much more likely that it is Tottenham that is the problem

  5. Disagree with Carra here. It felt like Conte was the only one at Tottenham bothered about winning titles, and he did everything he could to change the culture but failed. It doesn't matter what coach they appoint, there is no hope for that club

  6. Conte finally had enough of this team and the owner, he needed money to be spent acquiring top players, instead, Levy made him make do with what they had…old stock nearing the end of their shelf life

  7. Top manager is one element of the recipe. You need years to reboot the squad to work for the manager. Spurs have suffered greatly because their squad is filled with bandage signings every year to try and win now.

  8. We just need a long term managerial project, one who can get the fans hyped up, yields the tactical knowledge, and can work with the current players+ a bit more, Conte needed a whole new XI, Jose required a few signings, but Poch in 18/19, 0 pounds spent and a CL final, there still was no reason to sack Jose days before the final, if he lost then ok yeah, maybe. But he was a great manager.

  9. No. It's the man at the top who needs to go. Mr levy is a great business man but when it comes to running the club, he's a joke.

  10. What's the excuse for kicking the manager before the final game who's got the track record of never losing finals?

  11. Nahhh. They should talking about the Tottenham players. Spurs needed to reset. Build a team that competes for top four.

  12. The Spurs players need to pick up their game as much as the manager. They consistently make the most ludicrous passes under pressure, and completely miss advantageous passes that would open up their offense. Whatever they're drilling in practice they need to drop immediately and focus on getting their passing game figured out because right now it's a complete embarrassment. Most header and corner goals because they can't actually figure out how to pass into good offensive positions, so it's nothing but cross and hope Kane can head it in.

  13. Spurs have had 2 top managers. Jose and Conte and still couldn’t win them a trophy. At the end of the day a wise man once said ‘It’s the history of the Tottenham’

  14. We keep talking about top managers when we don’t even have the right players…
Beautiful stadium, always trying to get a top manager meanwhile Wont invest in players

  15. They already had tons of top managers like poch, jose and conte yet none of them were able to solve spurs's problems. The main problem at spurs is daniel levy, spurs won't be winning anything or competing for the league if he's still around

  16. Tottenham is a mediocre team on par with. Aston villa and Leicester city . An above average manager with average expectations is what makes them successful . Trying to say they are. This big team with great expectations is like saying the Mexican league or mls are great leagues it’s just not true today maybe in the future but right now they need to stay on their lane

  17. DANIEL LEVY IS THE ONLY PROBLEM AND GARY NEVILLE KNOWS NAFF ALL ?? HAS TEN HAG BEEN BACKED COME ON ? IF DANIEL LEVY WAS UNITED CHAIRMAN NEVILLE WUD GO CRAZY !!!!

  18. I have more respect for Jamie for calling out other pundits. Saying it’s “ Lazy punditry by calling it Spursy “ ! And not breaking it down.
He, both of them, tried to explain it, and Neville made great point with that graphic how they have improved where they are In table. But of course to be considered one of top clubs, it’s about winning. Even a domestic cup here and there.

  19. They had conte , they had Mourinho . If those guys couldn’t change them , I don’t see anyone else doing so .
Maybe a young manager like Nagelsmenn could do something different. But since he’s now approached by Chelsea, I doubt he’ll go to spurs .

  20. Spurs don't need a top manager. They never have done. Wat have spurs done to deserve a conte or Jose absolutely nothing…….it was CONTE who LOWERED his standard and to think from wat he did with us at Chelsea Shows the LEVELS !!!!!!!

  21. They bottled this game so hard. Everton practically gave spurs a gift wrapped win. Spurs still lost. How?? The red card and penalty was really bad decision making from everton otherwise they would have had a real chance of winning against spurs. That kean goal tho, a thunderbolt of a strike

  22. They will sign Graham Potter obviously. They signed Andre Villas-Boas, Mourinho, and Conte. Tuchel will happen, I wouldn't be surprised if di Matteo or Ranieri were asked. Hell, why not ask Frank Lampard. And then in 2-3 years, after Chelsea sign and sack Nagelsmann, they can hire him too.
