Messi has always put a lot into "loyalty" so when Barcelona's Laporta turned on him, I think he was heartbroken. I can't imagine the ridiculous offers he must have received during his heyday at Barcelona. His loyalty to Barcelona was so strong and well known that many top clubs didn't even think that he'd ever leave so they never had any offer ready when he left Barcelona (other than the quick footed PSG).
