John Herdman said that his Canada side are “light, bright and clear, ready to go” on the eve of their pivotal World Cup Group F match against Croatia.

It’s a ‘must win’ game for the Canucks, who currently lie at the bottom of the standings after the narrow 1-0 defeat by Belgium in their opening fixture on Wednesday.

Croatia drew their opener against Morocco 0-0.

“A huge, huge match tomorrow,” Herdman said. “It’s going to be a defining moment for Canada in this World Cup. It’s one of those do or die games now that we have to perform in to stay in the World Cup.”

The game will also mark Canada skipper Atiba Hutchinson’s 100th appearance for his country and Herdman could hardly have been more complimentary in his assessment of his contribution to the team.

“I mean, this man is special,” Herdman said. “I think all of us are in a moment where we all will be doing this as much for Atiba as we are to get all three points. We’ll do everything we can to give him a great day.”
