Michy Batshuayi has a wealth of European footballing experience and has an impressive goal scoring record across multiple clubs. He can score every type of goal (with both feet) and has a strong physical presence. So what is the deal?

Frank Lampard’s alternatives are Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham. Tammy maybe more in the mould of a Lampard system striker, but he is still young and is looking more and more like a confidence player, as well as not performing at present.

While Giroud is a known quantity and a useful player, he is not the main man in a team to bag loads of goals, so is it finally time to give the belgian a chance and start michy up front or partner him with Tammy Abraham like Lampard did in pre-season?

Let’s discuss…

  1. People who we're at the open training said that Giroud was at his best, I hope my fellow Belgian will start next match

  2. Don't be surprised if he doesn't play him this season, lampard had a problem with Jack Marriott at derby (our best striker) and would consistently play David Nugent, it seems that he holds grudges or has his favourites

  3. He is really good. He is not that good enough bringing the ball down. He can link up with the striker in the two striker system. Keep up the good work yannick.💙💙

  4. I guess Frank doesn't want 3 strikers on the line up so someone has to sit out. So I agree Franks gotta give Mitchy a go, either start him and bring Giroud on, which is what I'd like to see, hopefully it happens against Norwich

  5. Michy should have a start. Am all for it. But mainly because i know everyone will realise what a bang average striker he is so those on the bandwagon disturbing our peace and giving young tammy grief, will finally give us all a break. So come on Michy.

  6. Yan, I am 1000000% with you. Everything you said was way and beyond correct!!!!!!!I just hope Frank and his staff watch this video and take it on board

  7. Michy deserves a chance! He is ready to prove something. Lampard should at least try him in the Norwich game to give him some confidence. He scored twice for the development squad but the truth is he absolutely wasn’t doing much getting involved. He has the potential to be one of the lethal strikers in the premier league if he gets that trust from Lampard

  8. I think Lamps should give batshuayi his well deserved chance. We are having a striker issue, this is time we need to give Tammy & Bats more play Time.

  9. Honestly it has to be that he does not do the little things that managers want, whether its movement, tactics, whatever. I will say that Bats is probably the best goal scorer on the team right now. What i really do not understand is why he is not on the bench. If you simply need a goal, what better option do we have off the bench?

  10. I don't care who it is but tammy and batshuayi need to score goals cause giroud would always be the back up striker so they need to get their act together asap

  11. I think the issue is that lampard has backed tammy and is banking on him developing significantly… If he drops him now it will basically shetter his confidence for the season.

I do agree that batshuayi is a good fox in the box but is not the top tier striker we need just abit of an all rounder. Where as with tammy he with the right training could become tactically a better player and there fore pass batman.

    P.s nice shirt

  12. Premier league teams choose British players to start over all other regardless of who is more deserving or better that has already been proven time and time again

  13. I'm afraid Michy is not 'tactically clever' enough for FL. He has to improve in moving without the ball. For me his way of playing could fit better with a 4 4 2 formation. But I agree, he scores goals and deserve a chance.

  14. I think that it's a bit alarmist to call what we have at the moment an issue. We've only played two games and both strikers have only started one game each. The fact that they have 0 goals in one game is not alarming to me. Moreover, you said that there are tons of chances being created in the box with no one finishing them. But again, there have only been 2 games and all of Tammy's goals come from chances in the box, so he is still a better fit if he does that and also follows instructions.

I personally think that Michy will get decent playing time this season but, for the third time, we have only played 2 games. For all we know, Michy will be in the team on Saturday, and that could've been Lampard's plan all along. The point is that it's way too early to be making this an issue the way that people have been. Using phrases like "to finally put to rest" in this situation is over the top.

Finally, his overall game wasn't that good in the PL2 game and the fact that he was playing against younger defenders was clear. I do like Michy, I'm just saying that I understand why Lampard has made the choices he has up front lately.

  15. Michy is incredible. still cant see why managers cant see that.. i think this will be his season for Chelsea, hes gonna be so good they have no choice but to play him. something like what Bale is doing to zidane

  16. Synchronicity (German: Synchronizität) is a concept, first introduced by analytical psychologist Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no causal relationship yet seem to be meaningfully related. During his career, Jung furnished several different definitions of it.

  17. Man I agree with every single thing you said. I’ve been so confused for YEARS. This guy scores goals and that’s what we need so I could never understand why he doesn’t play

  18. We need goals and Frank has to start Michy on Saturday. The pressure cooker will start warming up if we dont pick up all 3 points against Norwich.
Michy definitely has to start and I would prefer him in a strike partnership with either Pulisic or Tammy…
A midfield diamond would help the team to defend better from the front and also close the space in the middle of the park when we are defending in transition..We have good full backs dat can defend the balls out wide and Emerson can be given the license to join the attack from the left.

    Forward Line – Pulisic Michy

Midfield Diamond for me – Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic, Mount.

    Defense Line –
    Emerson Zouma Rudiger Azpi

  19. Actually kinda corny he isn't playing… Haven't won a game and got an international striker playing for the under 23s? What the hell is going on?
