Marko Grujic is set to spark a bidding war with Liverpool ready to cash in on the midfielder this summer.

Grujic has seen his profile rocket over the past 12 months having impressed during a loan spell in helping Porto reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The 25-year-old’s role in Porto’s round of 16 win over Juventus prompted a number of clubs from Serie A and the Bundesliga – where he shone for two years on a temporary stay at Hertha Berlin – to register an interest.

And the Liverpool ECHO understands those clubs have remained in contact with Liverpool over a possible permanent deal for Grujic.

Reports in Portugal suggested an ‘alarm has sounded’ at Porto over the great interest in the Serbia international.

Porto were initially considering another loan offer but with Liverpool preferring a permanent departure, they are now looking to sell Sergio Oliveria to Fiorentina for €20m to raise funds for Grujic’s signature.

Liverpool will look for around £20m for the player, who was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing for £5.1m from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016.

  1. Unfortunately this transfer hasn’t worked out for Liverpool they need to take the money 20,000,000 as soon as possible and run and don’t look back

  2. Realistically Grujic 20m Wilson 20m. Shaq 12m. Origi 25m+ so possibly 65-77m coming in. Need to to spend wisely. Legs and technique needed in midfield. + Under study for fabinho. etc
    ..

  3. His lack of chances here is pretty unspoken for but when it comes down to it, he could do with moving to a club that suits his style.

  4. why are we looking to cash in… this guy was Jurgen's first signing and he always pays his great praise… why sell for 20 now and buy another midfield for 35 or 50?? why is it always this case with non engllish players… suso.. luis alberto and many more… if this guy was english the hype was gonig to be so high for him…. and the media would have inflated him so well
lots of bad things happening at the club in terms of recruitment
