Brentford transfer target Mariano TroiloBrentford transfer target Mariano Troilo

Mariano Troilo joined Parma last summer and the defender could be on his way to Brentford.

The centre-back made a slow star to life in Italy, playing just once in the first ten league games. But he settled in soon enough and is now a key player for Carlos Cuesta’s side.

He scored a massive goal for Parma last month, helping them to a 1-0 win over AC Milan. This has only made things better, with Troilo having started each of the last three league games.

It seems like the Argentine is already being monitored closely in England, with Brentford interested.

Troilo could be on the move

Tuttomercatoweb make it clear that the 22-year-old can leave Parma just a season after joining. Clubs in England are keeping a close eye on him, with the Premier League ‘buzzing’ around the player.

Brentford get a direct mention, even if no formal negotiations have taken place. Parma have identified Nosa Obaretin as a replacement.

It is believed that Brentford would have to make a ‘compelling offer’ to have a chance of signing Troilo.

Parma paid Racing Belgrano €7m last summer, with the player’s current deal running out in 2030. Because of this and his performances, his value has grown since he joined the Italian side.

Troilo could be worth monitoring

Brentford, through their move for Michael Kayode, have shown that they like shopping in Italy. The right-back had played only a season of first-team football at Fiorentina before he ended up in London and the same can stand true for Troilo.

If not the Bees, he could be quite an interesting prospect for other English clubs in the future.

He boasts a towering aerial presence and long legs that he uses quite well during duels. Troilo is yet to make a mark as a technical defender and also has issues around discipline, but further development is likely.
