Christian Walton
Will be frustrated not to get more on the opener but little he could have done about their second. Made some really big saves, notable a brilliant reaction stop to keep out Cyle Larin’s acrobatic effort. 7
Darnell Furlong
Got himself in the box a surprising amount but couldn’t quite make anything happen. Missed a big chance to win it. Handled himself well against Leo Scienza for the most part but had a tougher task against Ryan Manning. 7
Dara O’Shea
Wasn’t really in the picture for either goal conceded. Dictated play well from the back. Put in a few big tackles and blocks. Always looks so calm and composed, both on and off the ball. 8 (Man of the Match)

Jacob Greaves
Great to see him back at the heart of defence. Strong challenges and smooth work on the ball, with nice attacking contributions scattered into his performance. Lovely dink ahead of Town’s opener. Clattered Finn Azaz for the foul that led to Southampton’s equaliser. 7
Leif Davis
No rustiness off the back of spell out. Seemed right up to speed, bombing up the flank and creating from wide areas. Great to have him back – Ipswich are a much better team with him in it. 7
Azor Matusiwa
A little nervy on the ball at times but always recovered when he surrendered possession. Some nice turns on the ball. Not one of his very best performances but certainly not among his worst. 7
Dan Neil
Having looked a bit shaky recently, this was Neil back towards his best. Felt like he was involved in everything. Played quite advanced and strung together some nice attacking moves. Great to see him play the full 90 minutes. 7
Wes Burns
Took his goal with excellent composure, could have had a second goal too. Ran his heart out and caused Southampton real problems. Looked miles better than his brief cameo at The Hawthorns on Saturday. 8
Marcelino Nunez
Another frustrating display. The occasional nice touch and pass, but too many loose and sloppy. Corners did cause Saints some trouble. 6
Jaden Philogene
Lively on the flank. Had a couple of big opportunities to open the scoring in the first half that he was unable to take. Still not quite at his electric best post-injury but getting there. 7

Ivan Azon
Chased shadows for a lot of the game but, like against West Brom, he worked incredibly hard and was relentless off the ball. Won countless flick-ons against towering defenders that Town weren’t able to capitalise on. Bagged an excellent assist for Burns’ opener with some clever play. 8
Substitute: Jack Clarke (67′)
Changed the game off the bench. Excellent equaliser and he easily could have won it. Sharp display surely puts him in with a shout of starting against QPR. 8
Substitute: Kasey McAteer (67′)
With most of Town’s attacks coming down the left, felt like he was left a little isolated down the right. Didn’t have much to work with. 6
Substitute: Jens Cajuste (75′)
Came on in a more advanced no.10 role before dropping deeper. Didn’t look like a player who hasn’t played a single minute since Stoke away on March 10th. 6
Substitute: George HIrst (75′)
Only had four touches but had next to nothing to work with. 6
Substitute: Chuba Akpom (82′)
Involved around the box but couldn’t make anything stick. 6
