During Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Dominic Solanke was forced off in the first half, around the 40th minute, with what appeared to be a muscular issue, likely a hamstring problem. He pulled up while chasing the ball and was replaced by Richarlison.
Spurs’ manager Roberto De Zerbi described it as a muscular injury and said it was “not a big problem,” though he wasn’t sure how many games Solanke would miss. He noted they’d get more clarity in the following days after assessments.
Now, The Telegraph believes early scans indicate a possible grade 2 hamstring injury, which typically takes 3–8 weeks to recover from. This has raised doubts about whether he’ll feature again before the end of the Premier League season (with only a few matches left). Spurs have not yet issued an official confirmation on the full extent.
This comes after Solanke has already had significant injury issues this season, including a recurring ankle problem that required minor surgery and caused him to miss numerous games (around 33 across club and country at one point). He had only relatively recently returned to action before this latest setback. Tottenham’s squad has been heavily hit by injuries overall this campaign, which has complicated their fight against relegation.
No final return date is confirmed yet—further tests and club updates will provide more details in the coming days. It’s another frustrating blow for the striker and Spurs fans.
Our View
In truth, Solanke has been beneath the required standard, but another absence is yet another blow for De Zerbi, who is looking to navigate his way through our final games.
