Magazin Romanesc Maestro has opened in the former Samaritans shop in Carr Street, which has been empty since November last year.

Work to refurbish the space started recently, and the butcher’s opened on Saturday, April 25.

Inside, co-partners Georgiana Florentina and Barbuta have stocked the shop with a range of traditional Eastern European meats, cheeses, breads and cakes.

The meat is sourced from a factory, also run by the duo, in Maldon, called Terra Meats, which actually supplies 60 other shops around Essex, including in London, but this is the first in Ipswich.

They said: “We are really excited.

“It’s been really busy since we opened, and the aim of the shop is to make customers happy and like our products.

“We have fresh sausages, Romanian Mici, homemade European cakes and bread. The spices we use are also traditional spices, something you can’t get around here anywhere else.”

The shop will also start stocking vegetables soon.
