Liverpool are planning a summer move for Real Betis star Abde Ezzalzouli, following a failed approach from Everton during the January transfer window.

The Reds scored in stoppage-time to seal a 2-1 victory against Everton earlier this month, in the first-ever Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, before following it up with a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

A total of three wins on the spin in the Premier League have put Arne Slot‘s side in a very strong position to seal Champions League qualification, whereas the Toffees fell to 11th place after losing 2-1 against West Ham United.

Having gotten the better of their rivals on the pitch, the 2024-25 Premier League winners are now looking to one-up David Moyes’ side in the transfer market too.

Everton made an approach to sign Ezzalzouli in the winter, which ultimately failed, with the left-winger, who is valued at £35m, remaining at Real Betis.

However, a move to England could still be on the cards, according to a report from Diario de Sevilla (via Sport Witness), which states Liverpool want to sign an ‘explosive attacking player’ in the summer, and they are planning a move for the Betis star.

Lauded as “extraordinary” by ex-Barcelona boss Xavi, the Moroccan has regularly been amongst the goals and assists for the Spanish side in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old is enjoying his most prolific season to date in front of goal, although his main position is left-wing, and bringing in a right-winger may be more of a priority, with the legendary Mohamed Salah set to leave at the end of the season.

Mohamed Salah may have played last Liverpool game

Salah was forced off with a hamstring injury in the recent victory against Crystal Palace, with Liverpool still waiting for the results of a scan, but Virgil van Dijk believes the Egyptian will still get the send-off he deserves in the final game of the season, against Brentford at home.

“I know he is doing everything in his power to be back on the pitch as soon as possible,” said the centre-back.

“If you get injured at this stage of the season, especially in the situation he is in, there is only two more home games left for him, it’s a combination of feelings that go through your mind.

“Hopefully he won’t be long. Maybe he’s back next week, maybe not. I have no idea.

“He will get the send-off regardless. I don’t think that is the thing at this point, we shouldn’t think too far ahead.

“Knowing Mo, he is a quick healer and with the right people around him and let’s see.”
