Atletico Madrid could rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish international is set to leave Anfield on a free transfer after the season, bringing an end to his decorated nine-year spell on Merseyside.

While Tottenham are believed to be frontrunners to secure his signature, provided they avoid relegation from the Premier League, Atletico are also said to be keeping close tabs on his situation.

The Spanish side were keen to land Robertson last summer following Milos Kerkez’s arrival at Liverpool as his long-term successor.

Atletico Keen on Andy Robertson

According to the Daily Record, Atletico manager Diego Simeone has revived his interest in Robertson ahead of the summer and is keen to land the Scotsman on a free transfer.

The Spanish side would be able to afford Robertson’s wages, but it remains to be seen whether the 32-year-old would be open to joining an overseas club at this stage of his career.

Tottenham are already at the table for the Liverpool left-back, renewing their interest from January, when they seriously looked into a low-cost deal ahead of his contract expiry.

Robertson’s boyhood club Celtic have also been continually linked with a move, but remain unlikely to emerge as leading candidates given the serious interest in Robertson from Europe’s top five leagues.

Heading to the World Cup with Scotland this summer, Robertson would reportedly like his future to be sorted before the tournament starts on June 11.

The ‘world-class’ 32-year-old has made only nine Premier League starts for Liverpool this season, along with another 13 appearances off the bench.

Robertson helped Liverpool win the 2019 Champions League title, as well as two Premier League trophies during his nine-year spell at Anfield.

Alisson Open to Joining Juventus

Along with Robertson and Mohamed Salah, who are both set for free transfer exits, Liverpool could also part ways with goalkeeper Alisson this summer.

According to reports, the Brazilian has emerged as a primary target for Serie A giants Juventus, with an agreement over personal terms already in place.

Alisson, who joined Liverpool in a deal worth around £66m, will have only 12 months remaining on his Anfield contract at the end of the season.

The Brazilian knows Serie A well from his two-year spell at Roma, where he made 64 appearances and was named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year in 2017-18.
