In my honest opinion, Hansi and Deco should make Roony believe in the process. Ofcourse, he plays in the position of Lamine Yamal so its really harsh on him. But imagine Lamine getting injured, how good will Roony be. He can’t be loaned out or sold. Hes a special player.

  1. Roony will want to leave in the future unless Lamine transitions to a 10 or Roony changes his position. Lamine is a greater player at a younger age, Roony will never become a starter unless either of the two situation I mentioned above occur. And it’s understandable, Roony is talented player and he knows it, he would want to be starter and many teams will be glad to have him.

  2. It’s unclear why the coach won’t give him a chance to play on the left wing. He’s clearly capable of it. And in my opinion, the results and impact were better than when Rashford was on the field. The guy is talented and young; he showed a high level of play in that same Cup match against Athletic Bilbao, but he’s given very few chances. And it’s perfectly logical that he wants to go somewhere where he’ll actually get to play.

I think he’s deserved more of a chance and continuity. Lamine has needed more rotation and frankly given his Pubalgia I’m surprised Rooney dint get more minutes early on. It’s not as simple as people say, ie this isn’t FIFA 2025, but I also think trying out lamine in the middle with Rooney deserves more trial going forward.

  4. I like this guy. Every time he was called up he showed up, to him it didn’t matter who was the main player he is supposed to cover for, the way he plays seemed like all he wants to do is be as effective as he could be, and for that alone he should be given the chance to shine.

Lamine is capable of playing a playmaker role later on as the game drags, might as well have Roony play the wing.

Either way, in the end Flick is in charge, and I believe he has better knowledge than anyone of us here about his team.

  5. İ really want him to start today and see Lamine in the CAM role drifting into half spaces 😭

    Hansiiiii por favor

I think the main issue is yamal is still 18 – there’s no way Rooney ever starts over him – I hope he stays and develops for the next 2 years and then we can get a good price for him – any sub for yamal should be one who accepts the role

Roony is definitely one we want to keep. The question remains, will he continue sitting and playing limited minutes behind Lamine? I think Lamine could be rested more as we get closer to the end of the season, provided we can wrap it up during El Clasico, or before. The way Madrid have been playing, we could wrap it up despite the Clasico.

  8. There is no “believe in the process” that can overcome reality. Yamal is young, world class, and seemingly wants to play all games. Roony and everyone knows the reality that, unless Lamine gets injured, they won’t get to play more than 30 minutes every few games or against some lower side teams in Copa del Rey.

If Barca wants to keep him, either Rooney accepts that he won’t play (which can stun his development), he finds a new position to play in, or the team makes a commitment to rotate Yamal. If not, I can’t blame him for looking out for another team. It’s not like Barca can even lie and say “Yamal will only be here for two or three more years, trust the process”.

Best case scenario, imo, is a loan with the possibility of calling the player back up if Yamal gets injured. Well, realistic best case scenario, best case would be he accepts being on a sub, or learns to play in both wings so he can be a backup for Rapinha too.

  9. Flick needs to figure out more rotation for him, we won’t keep him happy sitting on the bench for the majority of the season

  10. He deserves to be more than a backup role, its unfortunate for him that Yamal plays in the same position. A player of his ability deserves to start , so our best bet is to loan him out to be able to sell for a good profit later. I don’t see Lamine transitioning to a 10 or Roony changing his position, so i think the best scenario for both parties is a loan and then sell. It kinda sucks but we can’t expect a player of his talent to accept a backup role .

Him and Lamine could get consistent minutes pretty easily if flick wasnt so dead set on making lamine play 90 mins every fucking game until he gets injured

  12. MarionberryEnough689 on

He shouldnt play under a manager that clearly has 0 respect for him, not even giving him minutes in useless laliga games…

  13. Flick needs to rotate better, or he will leave, and also everyone can get injured. What then, who will play right wing?

  14. aScenT_RAID3R on

It’d be great if they could loan him out for game time to any decent team (would be great in Bundesliga) low physicality and great attacking games will sharpen him more. Really don’t want to see him go.

But yeah, he’s way too good to be a backup forever

  15. Loan him out. Please do not sell him. We bought him for nothing, young, great player, occupies a critical position if for whatever reason Lamines doesn’t play

  16. Has he been tried on the left? If he’s any good, he could be cover for both sides. Raphinha was a RW before the emergence of Yamal. Now hes better as a LW than he ever was a RW.

I’m sure they’ve seen in training that he isn’t, or we would have seen him tried there, but worth asking the question 🤔.

What did you expect? Lamine is a bit selfish in this regard, he wants Ballon d’Or and wants to rack up stats (many other players also do this, not just him), so it’s a situation where if Lamine is healthy, he will play almost every game, Roony will only play if Lamine is injured or in the last 5 minutes maybe.

It is what it is, no amount of copium from this fanbase about trying Lamine at a different position or trying Roony at another position will change this.

You don’t want to be in the situation Madrid is, having to play players out of position and not fitting properly on the pitch just because “bro the stars have to play”.

If he has to be loaned out or sold, we do that and that’s it. Yeah, he may end up being world class in another team, it can happen, you live with that, but if it can’t work in this team, it can’t, enough.

Like yeah, you may get a Cole Palmer situation, yeah, but I doubt Pep is out there crying, City is still competing for a domestic treble while Chelsea languishes outside UCL places, and even trending to end outside Conference League places. Project over the player, always.

It’s really unfortunate tbh. The kid is a baller and deserves first team minutes, or at least a constant rotational player. He’ll be able to get that at a top 6 club in a top 5 league somewhere. It just won’t be here.

(Un)fortunately for us, Yamal is the world’s best right winger and is only going to improve there. It’s still to be seen if he can drift into that slot if space Messi did and effectively free up some space on the wing for creative lineups, and Roony hasn’t shown the ability to move onto the left or centrally. And I’m not sure id want a winger with those natural dribbling gifts moved centrally anyways.

We’re going to get pennies on the dollar for him, like maybe $25m aggressively, then watch him turn into a world class winger and 100m player before our eyes. It’s too bad

  19. or I have an idea. Maybe NOT play Yamal every single minute in every single game even at winning positions at 18 years old…

Why should a player EVER want to stay when they know that the only way they ever get to play a single minute is if an 18 year old gets injured. It is absolute ashine missuse of Flick and there is 0 excuses.

The mass minutes of Yamal must stop or it WILL come back to bite us. The worst part is that the people defending this by saying “YaMaL iS tHe BeSt In ThE wOrLd So He MuSt PlAy” are the first to make a complete 180 when he gets injured.

0 future view here from Flick and it is huge stain on his career here.

I understand your point and I agree Roony has the potential to be a special player, but there’s no “process” in what you said. Waiting for a player to get injured so that you can play isn’t a process.

I think Roony is most likely going to want a bigger role elsewhere, and I don’t blame him. Kid’s barely got any playing time this season.

  21. Logic and Barcelona’s transfer plans don’t go hand in hand.

Last year- We need backup for yamal he can’t play non stop

This year- Roony should be sold or loaned out. Yamal doesn’t like being benched.

  22. CenterForward1522 on

I 100% believe this and I want maybe even playing Lamine out of his position but Roony definitely deserves more playing time and over dependence on Lamine will harm us in the long run.

  23. Downtown-Pack-6178 on

Lamine Yamal is great and amazing because he scored many amazing goals! And he even he can make the team win games by 4+ goals!
