Seafront Mini Market on Westover Road in Bournemouth has applied to sell alcohol to be consumed off-site between 8am and 3am as well as allow late night refreshments from 11pm to 3am every day of the week.

A report to the committee shows that a similar application was made in 2022 but was refused due to concerns about the location which has a “disproportionate number of street drinkers, suffers from anti-social behaviour, and crime and disorder”.

Objections to the proposal raised concerns about children’s safety, risk of crime, disorder and aggressive behaviour were raised by the YMCA, Dorset Police, ward councillors and the council leader.

The plans were going to be heard at a licensing committee meeting on April 20, however members were told that the hearing has been postponed to allow for further mediation.

No date was given for when the hearing would be moved.
