Arsenal, Aston Villa and Fulham are all in the picture to sign Celta Vigo’s Óscar Mingueza in the summer.
Aston Villa have repeatedly named as a contender to sign the right-back and even looked at him when Monchi was at Villa Park. Arsenal and Fulham have join them in the race for the Spaniard’s signature.
His contract expires in June, and the La Liga side have already made concrete efforts for the renewal.
Celta Vigo made progress in the renewal negotiations but suffered a setback when he changed agents.
On April 3rd, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain that British agency Unique Sports Group are now managing him. The new representatives had no contact with Celta Vigo.
Four days later, we relayed news that Aston Villa have positioned themselves to sign him for months.
Arsenal and Fulham join Aston Villa
Estadio Deportivo take a look at those Celta Vigo players who have contracts until June, including Óscar Mingueza.
Celta Vigo have been trying to renew his contract and at the same time, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Fulham have entered the race to sign him for free.
The 26-year-old is likely to leave as a free agent as the newspaper indicates he doesn’t want to sign an extension. In addition to the Premier League trio, Juventus are also in the picture.
It’s unclear what the former Barcelona man plans to do after this season or whether he has a preference.
Celta Vigo stay unlikely
The La Liga side face Barcelona in the league clash later today and ahead of this tie, Sport spoke to Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giráldez.
It’s no surprise the Catalan newspaper asked the manager about Óscar Mingueza.
“He’s a fantastic player. He has a tremendous personality. I hope he can stay; we know it will be difficult to keep him. I hope he can have a great career because he still has a lot of room for improvement and I like him a lot,” he said.
Defender’s value and stats
