Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on signing Mjällby AIF youngster Zebedee Kennedy.
The 16-year-old is attracting interest from several European clubs, including Wolves.
At the start of this year, he moved to the Swedish club on a free transfer, after a spell with GIF Sundsvall, a club he joined in 2024.
The striker is yet to make his official debut for Mjällby AIF’s first team. However, he did feature in a 4-1 friendly win over Artis Brno in February and even got his name on the scoresheet. He then talked about his future ambition of joining Manchester United.
At that time, he said: “Of course, my dream is to play for my father’s favourite club, Manchester United. It would be nice to see him in a shirt like that with my name on the back.”
However, the Red Devils aren’t looking at him and instead other clubs like Wolves are in the mix.
Wolves ahead of others
Zebedee Kennedy’s potential and profile would have seen a few European clubs already take notice.
That’s according to Fotbolltransfers, who state Wolves, Chelsea, Juventus, Bologna and Benfica are all following him. The outlet makes it clear it’s their own information about these clubs.
The Molineux club’s relegation from the Premier League is confirmed but that doesn’t stop them from pursuing the striker.
In fact, the report adds Wolves are the club to have shown the ‘most interest’ in Kennedy and made first contact with his camp.
The outlet also spoke to Sweden U16 international’s agent, Georgios Kousis. He confirmed talks with several clubs, without revealing their details.
“It’s really great to have so much interest, but it’s not unexpected. ‘Zebbe’ has incredible potential and has delivered when given the chance,” he said.
“Then he’s in a fantastic environment right now, so we are in no hurry. But it is absolutely flattering and we are in close dialogue with the clubs that follow him.”
It’s quite possible Fotbolltransfers would have obtained information about Wolves, Chelsea and other clubs from the representative.
Why Wolves and Chelsea must wait
Zebedee Kennedy will turn 18 years of age in February 2028 and until then, he won’t be able to arrive in the UK due to Brexit.
Therefore, Wolves, Chelsea or any other British club have to wait until the summer of 2028 if they were to sign the attacker. However, these clubs can now reach an agreement with Mjällby AIF for his future transfer.
