[CIES Football Observatory] Most 'laziest' players, calculated by average distance covered compared to the rest of the team. Messi, Dzyuba & Ronaldo are the laziest. Kylian Mbappe & Moise Kean are the only players from the top 5 leagues to make the list.
Or is this statistics flawed

Yeah big no no. It’s the last thing we need
He doesn’t cover distance but he presses immensely. Not lazy.
Maybe take this moment to understand that 1. most folks have no clue about stats and 2. Messi isn’t and never was a lazy player (if you don’t know what to look for you can check the last game against Colorado, he did incredible defensive work, again).
If you don’t watch the actual games and look at this stat without context you will think he is lazy. If you actually watch him you will know he presses like a madman.
This Stat is obviously flawed,Why would a striker cover more distance relative to the whole team. All that matters is pressing intensity, not total Distance covered
If you decide by looking at a single stat, you dont know football at all. These accounts are just baiting people and you fall for it. Why should a number 9 cover so much distance? Osimhen is playing for Galatasaray, they dominate most of the games by pressing, play the game in opponent half and it reduces the distance to run for the striker. What should he do? Run back to his defense while team is constantly attacking? Watch UCL matches and he is literally everywhere. He is pressing nonstop. He creates chances solely by the high pressing and stealing the ball. A better statistics would be the effective/explosive runs performed, and duels won. Whatch a single Galatasaray UCL match and see how shit is this list.
Osimhen presses like there is no tomorrow, i dont know how this list works
