Chris Wood has recently returned to action for Nottingham Forest after picking up an injury in October that required surgery.

Now, his teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the treatment table, and the injury he sustained against Porto last week looks more serious than first anticipated.

Who was your Man of the Match vs Burnley

Hudson-Odoi looked devastated as he hobbled out of the Europa League quarter-final and now, the club – and the player – have made an announcement on his prognosis.

Forest have moved quickly to clear up the injury sustained by Hudson-Odoi, and the club have confirmed that he’s undergone surgery to rectify a thigh problem.

The fact that he’s gone under the knife means that his season is now over for 2025/26, and given that he boasts a lot of experience, his loss will be sorely felt out wide.

Forest said on social media: “Nottingham Forest can confirm that Callum Hudson-Odoi suffered an injury to his right quadriceps muscle in our Europa League Quarter Final fixture against FC Porto last Thursday.

“Following further specialist consultation, the winger has undergone surgery today and will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately.

“Callum is expected to return to full training during the pre-season period and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.”

The news is devastating for all involved and Hudson-Odoi will now already have one eye on next season when he will hope to return to action keen to make up for lost time.

Chris Wood sends classy message to Hudson-Odoi

Wood knows all about missing games and he’s been keen to send his well wishes to the winger as he get his head around the notion that his season is now over.

Hudson-Odoi posted on Instagram: “Surgery was Successful but definitely not the way I wanted to end the season but with God’s timing and plan hopefully I’ll be back stronger and better than before, thank you for your continued support always and the messages, I appreciate all the love and let’s get the recovery started so I can get back out there doing what I love !! No Pain No Gain.”

Wood reacted to that message on Instagram and posted: “You’ve got this bro! Be back in action in no time.”

Forest will now have to go back to the drawing board in order to finish the campaign and seeing how well Morgan Gibbs-White did out wide last weekend will give Vitor Pereira some food for thought.
