Long-serving Luke Mallett will step down from his role as AFC Sudbury manager at the end of the season.
Having been appointed in 2019, Mallett has overseen plenty of success during his tenure at the Elite Travel Stadium.
Alongside guiding the Yellows to the highest level in the club’s history following back-to-back promotions, Mallett has guided the team to three triumphs in the Suffolk FA Women’s Cup.

However, while Sudbury have been relegated from the FA Women’s National League Division One South East this term, Mallett can still sign off on a positive note with another county cup triumph at Portman Road against Needham Market.
“I’m personally gutted to be leaving, but it’s 100 per cent the right time for me and hopefully the club too,” said Mallett, who will depart the club alongside his assistant and brother Stefan.
“From where we started to where we are now, it’s absolutely worlds apart, and I couldn’t be prouder.
“There have been a few down moments, but absolutely a lot more highs. From the massive clubs we’ve played against and playing in professional stadiums, to winning league titles, league cups and many county cups, it’s been one hell of a run, all while doing it with 45-plus academy players coming through the ranks and playing for the first team.
“I’m grateful to so many people at the club and to have had them around me throughout. I wish everyone the best, and hopefully, we end the seven years with another trophy.”
Meanwhile, club CEO Alicja Holland added: “A massive thank you to Luke and Stef from everybody at the club.
“Luke and Adrian Goodwin worked so hard to get the team up and running and competitive, with Luke’s tenure spanning an amazing seven years with the club.
“Although this season has been a struggle, Luke’s commitment to continuing to fight and remain a positive influence in the women’s section has been greatly appreciated.
“Luke now has a new chapter in his personal life to focus on, and I wish him the very best with his personal endeavours and his own playing career at Woodbridge.
“Stef joined his brother Luke shortly after and has been the calming influence to Luke’s passion. Stef’s administrative support to the club secretary and the team has been paramount to the running of the side.”
Before facing Needham in the cup final next month, Sudbury will finish their 2025/26 league campaign on Sunday away at Queens Park Rangers (2pm).
