We could have done things properly with a long term vision but unfortunately Heck arrived and only cared about how his CV looks after he leaves Villa.

Result is we get the far inferior stand and still have to close it down for the season….

I don’t think there’s a choice. We need a big stadium yesterday and so the options are…

a – new stadium designed for this century out in the middle of nowhere with train links, training facilities etc. Abandon our history but get a stadium that isn’t surrounded by houses/roads and with poor transport links

    or

b – the patch up job where we neaten those corners and expand it slightly whilst continuing to use it

I can’t see a scenario where we can grow our stadium to 60K and yet not lose any home games, not have any problems locally and still keep it as Villa Park like everyone knows it.

  2. Yeah hoping the closure means they can revisit some of the design decisions, as you say the first one was far superior, the new version looks like a real cheap option in comparison

  3. At least it’s an upgrade on the current North stand so something to be thankful for.

A new stand was in contention at some point but a lot of world factors led to this decision including spiralling costs, availability of materials, contractors and an insane hike in inflation.

Yes we would all like a state of the art stadium but football is now a business and we are run by number crunchers.

I hate Chris heck for a lot of things. I can’t believe we’ve ended up with the badge we have. We all voted against yellow.

Do we know how many season ticket holders there are in North? And how many non-season ticket seats are gonna be left once this is done? Hard enough getting tickets as it is 😂

  6. What happened to filling in the corners? Is that still a long-term option with this design?

Sorry to be the boring accountant on this but wasn’t our revenue increased by 37% in a season? I knows that’s CL revenue to but he did an incredible job raising our revenue (albeit fleecing fans). Unfortunately the financial world and aesthetics/kindness to customers aren’t always parallel with each other
