The Whites have an FA Cup semifinal to keep half an eye on at the weekend and have taken big steps towards survival in the league, with two draws and two wins in their past four games.

Bournemouth come into the game in eighth in a hugely congested table, with two points separating Chelsea in sixth and Sunderland in 11th.

Team news

Andoni Iraola headed to the north east and Newcastle with close to a fully fit squad, and that is not likely to change after they appeared to get through Saturday’s game unscathed.

Lewis Cook was back in partial training with the squad ahead of the Newcastle game, but it may still be too soon for him to return, while Justin Kluivert remains out.

Daniel Farke is faced with the dilemma of how strong to go in midweek with the cup semifinal looming.

He is without Daniel James and Anton Stach through injury.

Head-to-head

The Cherries do not have the best record against the Yorkshire side, but they have only faced each other three times since January 2015.

In those, their record is won one, lost one and drawn one, with the draw coming last time out vs Leeds, earlier this season.

In that game at Elland Road, Antoine Semenyo gave Bournemouth the lead with a free kick after 26 minutes, before Joe Rodon equalised 11 minutes later.

Sean Longstaff handed Leeds the lead nine minutes into the second half, before Junior Kroupi scored his first goal for the Cherries to snatch a point in the third minute of stoppage time.

Form

Bournemouth are in flying form. They have the fourth-best record in the league in 2026, with only one defeat in the calendar year, coming in their first game back in January against Arsenal.

Since then, they have gone 13 games unbeaten and return to Dorset off the back of two consecutive 2-1 wins on the road, over Arsenal and Newcastle.

Leeds have also won back-to-back games, over Manchester United and Wolves, following draws to Crystal Palace and Brentford, to haul themselves eight points clear of the relegation zone.

They beat West Ham at the beginning of April on penalties to reach the FA Cup semifinal.

AFC Bournemouth host Leeds United on Wednesday, April 22, kick off at 8pm.
