I mean, I was excited last season with our big signings.. if slot is staying which it looks like he is. It’s just going to have to be a show me before I can believe situation

It’s funny how this guy got the Wirtz saga absolutely wrong and yet we’re choosing to believe him.

I thought maybe with us buying two strikers and Wirtz we’d go to some sort of winger-less formation. Not sure if that was ever the plan but it’s what I thought.

It’s weird because it feels like Kerkez and Frimpong would be good wingbacks. Kerkez I think will do fine as a normal LB but Frimpong I do wonder.

Think if our fullbacks are attacking then we seriously need a quality natural DM.

  4. He looks good from the reels, but seems like he does his best work against lower German clubs? I dunno. Maybe Im increasingly skeptical about being good in Germany and whether that translates into Premier League success (definitely hope Im wrong!).

Do we want a straight replacement for Salah though? If we are going to build the team around Wirtz i wonder how well a 433 is really going to work in the long run, unless its a narrow three with Wirtz in behind Hugo/Isak and a midfield three behind them with width coming from the wingbacks.

I love Mo and he is a legend and the 433 has been massively successful for us since the mane/bobby/salah days but i just feel like our best attacking players atm would be better suited to a different tactical setup

£85m for this kid is wild, if true. I’ll gladly hope to be proven wrong, and statistically he’s outperforming his xG, but it’s been 1 season.

I know the young winger market isn’t exactly flush right now but seems like such a punt. Just toss him into the team as a starter and sink or swim???

  7. Yan Diomande, his name is Yan Diomande

Yan Diomande, the man from Côte d’Ivoire

(sung to Guantanamera) sorry that’s all I’ve got

Gonna be honest, after last season and how exciting those signings were, and how the following season actually ended up…it’s a bit hard to get too revved up about this summer’s transfer window. I hope Yan Diomande is great, but I don’t think anything will top either the Florian Wirtz “Here We Go” or, even better, the day we all found out that Alexander Isak wasn’t going to Asia with Newcastle. (That one was so unexpected, especially after the transition from “Newcastle are getting both Isak and Ekitike” to “We’re getting Ekitike, they’re keeping Isak” to “Holy shit we’re really getting both of them.”)
