    Carrick might not be the perfect coach, there are people with better CVs out there.

    But man… He has really turned this mess of a team into a solid squad. Just imagine what he could do after a transfer window.

  2. Callouts:

    * Man United have the most overall points since Carrick joined but, as City have played a game less, they have a slightly higher Points Per Game.
    * Total GP refers to the total number of games played (all comps) over the period. This is an important consideration due to player fatigue, match fitness, consistency etc.
    * Only one team has scored more goals than Man United over the period – Arsenal, with 23, have scored one more than us.
    * Only two teams have lost fewer games than us – Bournemouth are unbeaten over the period, and City have lost just once (to us, in Carrick’s first game).
    * Spurs are.. just wow.

  3. The only managers I’d instantly take over Carrick for next season would be Enrique and Nagelsmann. If neither of those 2 are interested I think we should keep him

    If the manager options are Iraola, Glasner, Marco Silva, I dont see them doing better than Carrick honestly

    Bournemouth are incredibly impressive. So much talent going out the door and somehow still getting results. I think Iraola has a very promising career ahead of him.

  6. I’d be happy with a short term contract like 1 year. Anything more is a risk imo. See what he does till the end of the season and if it’s still good as that. Then give him a one year contract because he earned it.

    This only goes to make more of a mockery of Amorim, who was constantly excused for poor results because we had a “shit squad”. The measure of a good manager is to get the best out of the squad you have and adapt when required – we have had some horrific spells with injury and our depth has been exposed, but the result against Chelsea shows that can be managed. The exile of Mainoo is still utterly baffling, who has once again become integral to our team.

    Carrick, who has zero top flight experience as a manager outside of his short interim spell with us a few years back, has got a tune out of a squad that was deemed not good enough just a few months ago.

    Whether he is the right man long term remains to be seen, but at the very least hes shown we have an great foundation to build upon and not as far behind as we were gaslit into believing earlier this season.
