Michael Carrick is searching for his best attacking combination.

Manchester United’s attack has not been prolific lately. Since the 3-2 win over Fulham at the end of January, the team has scored three goals or more in a match only once, the 3-1 win over Aston Villa.

Michael Carrick has been chopping and changing his attacking trio, starting three different combinations in his last three games.

United went with Ineos’ three outfield summer signings against Chelsea, and while the hunt for goals goes on, one of them provided the winner.

Matheus Cunha’s goal was enough to earn a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, with Amad dropping to the bench.

Man Utd were clinical when it mattered!!!

It has actually been a rarity that Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all started the same game for Manchester United this season.

The trio have only started together in six different games. Three were under Michael Carrick, and three were under Ruben Amorim.

United have won two, drawn one and lost three of these matches.

Four of these games occurred away from home, and prior to the Chelsea match, Manchester United had failed to win the previous three.

A statistical anomaly? Perhaps.

We do feel that this trio could be worth a closer look.

Here’s how the Premier League table looks now this weekend’s games are complete – Confident??

There’s no way United will blow a top five place!

Getty Images Consistency could be important for Carrick

Amad has not been in great form lately, he has not scored since Michael Carrick took over.

For the sake of consistency, Michael Carrick should stick with the Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko trio that started against Chelsea.

One of the reasons United’s attack may be struggling to score goals consistently might not just be the combination, it could be the failure to stick with one.

This trio has started two home games together, a 4-2 win over Brighton and a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Next up United are at home to Brentford, and we expect another three points.
