2nd half, really disappointed in the technical display

  1. Arteta has prioritized physical duel winners in every single position for four years. This is the result.

  2. Yeah..that Mosquera pass to no one hurts when all he needed was a left footed pass into Martinelli and there we have a counter.

We deserve all the criticism we get. How can Arteta and his staff look at this crap and be proud. Absolutely clueless on the ball, I am always shocked when we actually manage to string a few passes together but apparently we are being negative for calling this crap out.

You don’t win anything by scamming your way to victories with set pieces and lucky goals. Over the course of a season the best football teams win the league and major cups. ARTETA OUT.

nelli has so much pace and they pushed up so far, but he was never released

  5. Fucking wank honestly, I can’t believe we’re so lacking technically.

First and maybe ONLY priority this summer is adding tech back into the team. Barcola, Alvarez, Wharton/Anderson players like that, not Gordon or Tonali or whatever.

But I thought Odegaard was a game manager who leads the team? He didn’t make a single great pass all game but then again nobody on this team did. The play is so predictable. Fire this manager

The play in tight spaces was the difference. Eze was the only man who could get out of a bind. Every city player was able to beat 2-3 defenders when they needed to, it was giving me.PSG flashbacks. The amount of aimless first time passes up the middle of the field or straight out of play were shocking. The players have the ability, just constantly in their heads missing passes they finish with their eyes closed in training. If they can match the spirit with the tech, we’ll still be in the race to the final day

Anyone else getting really sick and fucking tired of Arsenal instead of building up and passing like literally every other fucking team in the world does and does successfully against Arsenal, look at city and sporting, and instead having raya boot the ball across the field to the other team?

  9. intothegoal1 on

This is what I noticed too. City players so much more technically secure. We resulted to hoofing the ball up far too often.

I thought Gyokeres was the reason we can’t pass, or build up? Or create chances? Or score?

    Lol.

  11. Outplayed by a superior team. One team has a real football philosophy the other spams corners for goals. This is karma.

  12. Loaning out Nwaneri was our big mistake, he was the ideal replacement of Merino while injured

Martinelli loose pass (he does this a lot tbf)

Eze quickly pressed down by 3 players (most would struggle with that)

Mosquera tries a chip pass with his weaker left foot (I applaud the attempt and not to hide from using his weak foot, but he’s never making that)

Havertz expecting the ball over top, Odegaard expecting him to come short with good hold play he showed most of the game (mis-communication, shit happens)

Raya actually does the right thing here I think (go long for Martinelli to run onto in the space behind, rather than risk City’s press getting us in our box)

Cameras weren’t on the play but Im assuming Raya tried to play to quick to White but got it wrong. Rather that than slow, ponderous play.

Poor touch from Odegaard, rare for him

Hincapie held his run for risk of offside. Next clip his turn for a poor touch.

Bobbling pass is too short from Odegaard, but then he chases after it rather than stop and walk back like I saw from Madueke and Martinelli today.

No idea what Ben White is doing here, after Hincapie came running over showing him how to defend. Next clip he plays his down the line chip too close to the sideline.

Not sure what wrong with Saliba action here, he kicks and high and long rather than risk Haaland closing him down. You can’t take a touch and pass every time.

Havertz just too weak here, nothing technical about it.

Poor pass by Trossard trying to release Hincapie onto it.

Most of these arent especially disappointing and feels you’re being very nit-picky with it.

2 bruisers in midfield who can’t hold up the ball if their life depended on it and wingers who couldn’t score even if Donnarumma was sleeping between the posts.

  15. Sufficient-Work-9423 on

I thought going at O’Reilly’s side was not great decision making but then again Leo did create the incredible chance in added time from that end.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, we cannot have rice and Zubi both starting together the negative backwards passings from both of them constantly invites pressure. Rice and then ode and Eze as 2 CM rest of season

  17. ____grim____ on

Look at that linebreaking pass from Martinelli to start the City attack in the first 2-3 seconds. Our midfielders could never.

  18. We play 4 CBs at the back. Hell we prioritize getting these CBs on the ball in the final third. It’s insane

  19. robustostrich on

Biggest difference I see is the city players look pretty fresh and energetic, half our team look absolutely dead on their feet and that’s all down the Arteta running players into the ground. Fucking criminal how many minutes Rice and Zubimendi have played

  20. It’s due to mental weakness and cowardice.

When they’re playing a shit team, they’re technically fine.

As soon as the pressure is on – they fall to pieces and can’t string a pass together.

Deeply mentally fragile and weak hearted. Even if we somehow win the league this season – we need to think about getting rid of a lot of cowards and shirkers. And there’s some big names amongst them.

    Pathetic and embarrassing.

  21. The Mosquera pass with his left is the type of scenario we used to live for, Havertz goes to the wing ,Odegaard shows for the ball while Rice overlaps. Odegaard chooses not to run into space, the last City defender has Martinelli. Even Havertz could also made a similar run forward.

  22. You know what the past few weeks has shown me, our two most important players in attack are Saka and Merino

  23. Signal-Tangelo-1500 on

I really wish we had taken Zubi off for Trossard and left Eze on the pitch, move him in-field and have rice trailing infront of the defence. Eze was the only one i felt we were going to get something out of because he takes the risks with shooting. Odegaard played well in the build up and connection today i felt, but again was just that final pass or bravery to shoot himself. But overall not a performance to be clinically mad about, glad we actually attacked and took it to City instead of some ‘weather the storm’ approach

  24. DavidsSymphony on

We’ve been this dogshit for months now. And people watch this shit, they watch us not being able to string 5 passes together, and they don’t understand that it’s gone. They’re so delusional they think this team can do it. It’s right there in front of your eyes, the players and manager and shitting the bed.

Thing is, it was almost enough. Win against Wolves and Sunderland instead of bottling it and the league is done. But instead we’re in this shit.

  25. There’s a real point of difference here between Arteta’s approach and Guardiola’s. Pep turns attacking midfielders into fullbacks who have the technical ability to hurt teams. Arteta turns utility defenders, often those who prefer to play centre back, into fullbacks. It’s excellent in terms of the security it gives us, but it really hurts us in forward areas. The opposition aren’t scared of Hincapie or Mosquera picking the ball up in the half space. They’re not even scared of first choice Timber.

  26. 22/23 team is probably the most technical Arsenal team back to front the club has ever had.

Next season the club buys Rice, Kai and Timber to make the team more physical but they also added Jorginho, Leo and Viera (the last was a flop but the other two offered value). The team was statistically the best team in the league in every metric except where it matters most: points total.

From then on, the club invested more in physicality than technicality and it has shown for better and for worse. When Cali or Odegaard are missing, it is glaring how poor we are technically.

  27. brain_wrinkler on

I cant remember how many times I shouted at the TV “Pass to your teammates PLEASE”, simply because someone just intercepted a ball and instantly lost it.

  28. had flashbacks to Santi’s masterclass and how much difference it made to have someone be able to dribble out of tight spaces and under pressure

  29. The days of Wenger-ball one touch passing is way past us now sadly. Crazy to think that Wenger-ball was still alive through the banter era only for our defense to be the main weakness through that era.

Now our defense is arguably the best in the league, but we’ve lost all creativity and technicality in the midfield. Our CBs are literally the best passers in our team and they sometimes create through ball chances. Our midfield has become 3 or 4 backward passing Denilson’s.
