Bournemouth do the FA WNL Cup double, as Boro win the Reserve Plate

AFC Bournemouth and Middlesbrough lifted trophies on FA Women’s National League Reserve Finals Day.
The Cherries put back-to-back final defeats behind them to defeat Hull City 4-3 in the Reserve Cup Final.

Meanwhile, Boro beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 to triumph in the Reserve Plate Final.

In the league, defeat for AFC Bournemouth confirmed Plymouth Argyle’s place in the Premier Division Play-Off.

Cherries on top
The AFC Bournemouth Development team followed their first-team counterparts in triumphing in a FA WNL Cup Final.

The youngsters outscored the senior team, who beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 last month, as Bournemouth beat Hull City 4-3.

Kristina MacKinnon opened up the scoring for AFC Bournemouth in the 22nd minute before the Tigers responded immediately with an own goal.

Hull then hit the front through Sophie Wilson before Cherries captain Elin Starck equalised on the stroke of half-time.

Super work from Hannah Clayton then set up Mia Hammick for Bournemouth’s third with Starck bagging her brace with an excellent free-kick.

The Tigers responded again through Evie-Mae Wilkinson but could not find an equaliser as the Cherries triumphed.

Boro beat QPR for Plate win
Middlesbrough made their dominance pay as they earned a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in the FA WNL Reserve Plate Final.

Amber Rodgers forced QPR’s goalkeeper Annabelle Crosby into two good saves early on in the showpiece.

Meanwhile, Molley Povey was able to cut out attacking threats from the Hoops as the two teams entered the break goalless.

That deadlock was broken six minutes after the restart with Rodgers again involved as she set up Lily Readman.

Readman unleashed a fantastic strike to put Boro ahead and the North East side were able to see out the game to claim the victory.

Argyle enter the Play-Offs
Despite a weekend off, Plymouth Argyle sewed up the Southern Premier Division Play-Off place.

That came after AFC Bournemouth lost 2-0 to Lewes to end their hopes of being at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton on 4 May.

Lewes moved up to fourth in the Southern Premier Division with the victory as Oxford United scored a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Real Bedford.

Huddersfield one win away
Huddersfield Town moved above Cheadle Town Stingers with a 4-0 win over their title rivals.

The new Division One North leaders can now secure the division with victory over York City in midweek.

That came after Rhema Lord-Mears scored a brilliant brace in a huge victory against FA WNL Plate champions Cheadle.

Elsewhere, Chester Le Street Town confirmed their place in the FA WNL next season after a 1-0 win away at Doncaster Rovers Belles, with the Belles now on the brink of relegation.

Posh a game from glory
Champions Peterborough United‘s 2-0 win over Sheffield FC means they are just one win or draw away from an unbeaten league season.

Posh secured their 19th win of the campaign thanks to goals from Jessica Stanford and Jessica Rousseau.

Peterborough can secure a near-perfect season on the final FA WNL Sunday when they take on Stourbridge, a fixture that will also see them lift the Division One Midlands trophy.
