Ødegaard: “We had a few big, big moments there in front of goal. So, yeah, small margins, you know, to decide a game like this and yeah, we weren’t sharp enough in front of the goals and yeah, that’s why we go home with nothing.”
He also continued a similar line of other players from the last few weeks. Suggesting Arsenal are going to continue to focus on themselves and not the outside noise.
Genuinely tired of these PR statements. Real Madrid players are down right assholes but until our players get some damn ego I don’t think we’ll ever win. They just don’t have that dawg in them

We could’ve won and we could’ve lost by a bigger margin. We’ve tried our best, we weren’t good enough. End of story. Nothing more in it rather than the quality of the attack.

Just cannot be arsed hearing more chat about “small margins” and how we were unlucky. Nah man, you had plenty of chances to put this title to bed before we came into a do or die game against City. Could have been 11 ahead in January. Or at least not bottle a 2-0 lead against Wolves. Yet another collapse in April, after all this time, is inexcusable.
They just don’t have what it takes to get it over the line.

Team played their hearts out today. Created the chances, just unlucky with finishing. On another day that ball doesn’t fall for Haaland and Eze’s shot goes in, that’s football.
This is still not over. If we play like this we will win our remaining 5 games. Not sure if my heart can take it but it might come down to goal difference.

We didn’t embarrass ourselves today. Lots of balls went off the frame. Pressing was much better with Kai up top. We need to get better with heading 50:50 balls to our players instead of the opposition, and the high lofted balls to nobody need to get better. We had a great series of passes in the middle that nearly scored, and I want more of that please. Big Gaby and Haaland were going at each other all game and the ref let it go, which put tempers on edge. The Haaland goal began with Haaland throwing Big Gaby to the outside just before he got the pass.

I know we’ve come a long way and we are indeed privileged to be in the position we are in, *but* I also think it’s fair to say it’s getting extremely tiresome having to read the same arguments year after year. Especially the “small margins” one.
Yeah, this sport is often decided by small moments; the slightest of touches can change the course of a game and take you out of a competition, or mean that you advance to another stage or outright win the thing. Problem is that this is the fourth consecutive year where those small margins go against Arsenal at the worst possible time. You can’t say it’s just a coincidence or statistical variance anymore
I fear for the future of this project. If we end the season empty handed again there won’t be a hiding place for anybody. Not even the fans.
It’s not quite the end of the world for the club, but it sure feels like it could happen at any moment now. I hope it doesn’t.

It isn’t just down to individuals — whether that be in midfield or in attack — it is a question of footballing philosophy; how do we want to actually play? How do we want to attack?
During the Wenger period, we had a clear identity, and although the criticism was that we prioritised the attack at the expense of glaring problems at the back, we were able to measure the effectiveness of our approach in every game. If we failed to win a game, it would have been that we lacked a Plan B.
The problem with Arteta’s project is that there is no Plan A, nevermind a Plan B. There is no pattern of play; no emphasis on combinations in the midfield. This is personified by the signings he makes for that same midfield; Declan Rice, Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz.
Instead, we now measure games by small margins – that rare chance at open goal; you have to score it, because according to this system, you are afforded that one chance at most.
Watching that game, I couldn’t tell you how we would impose ourselves; there was no midfield control. No possession. Then again, his signings weren’t made for possession football, but rather to win duels.
One day, people will come to understand that no single player is going to fix this until we get rid of the system and the people behind it.
We could have won that game today and watch City blitz teams in the follow-up games while we scour for those small margins. It isn’t sustainable. Today’s perfromance was a perfect reflection of Arteta’s football. It may work against most of the league, but it will never overcome a Pep Guardiola side that is expansive and creative.

I just want to say that Martin Odegaard has never commandeered our team (during the business end) to the winning side of these so called “small margins”.
I am struggling to find 5 games at the business end from last 3 seasons where the I can say that you know what? It was a game of fine margins and Martin Odegaard made the difference, took the game by the scruff of the neck and got us over the line, truly a captain’s performance.
However, I can perhaps find out more than 5 of these “fine margin” games where he was subbed off.
Truly, a testament of our trophyless run.

Yeah, you need to learn how to properly weight a pass. I’ve never seen a midfielder with a worse final ball in my life, either underhit or over hit, sending players wide when we need it narrow, and narrow when we need wide. Floating aimless crosses, passing backwards killing momentum, and running around looking busy. Perfect captain for this shit club
