During a hectic period of games, Tonda Eckert has not named the same midfield partnership in two consecutive outings since mid-February.
While many Championship teams would struggle with that, Saints are thriving, and it has allowed certain players to rediscover their form.
Summer signing Caspar Jander is proving exactly that. The 23 year old, who also impressed against Arsenal, had looked fatigued earlier in the season.
The Championship’s gruelling winter schedule had taken its toll on a young player used to a break at that stage of the season.
Yet Eckert’s knack for rotating his players and balancing both their mental and physical freshness is now getting the best out of his countryman.
“Sometimes it’s easy to forget where players come from and the journey,” he said of Jander following a 2-1 win over Swansea.

“If you see how many minutes in games Caspar has played in the last seasons, he’s already outdone that by a big margin.
“Then to find himself in a position now where at this time he can perform in the way he does, I think speaks for him.
“Big, big credit. I think he had an outstanding game today.”
Jander set up Southampton’s winning goal in a dramatic victory at Swansea, picking out Cam Archer with a finely weighted cross.
That 90th-minute assist capped off an all-around performance from the former FC Nürnberg midfielder, who also recovered the ball seven times.
With at least four more games to go, Jander will have played the most minutes of his career by the end of the campaign.
But Southampton’s current methods will ensure the former Germany youth international doesn’t burn out before he can help them win promotion.
