Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and predicted lineups as relegation-fighting Leeds United host rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road. After collecting a first victory at Old Trafford since 1981, Daniel Farke’s Leeds are now six points clear of 18th-placed Tottenham, and will be keen to put another three points between themselves and jeopardy. Although Wolves are long relegated, back-to-back fixtures against Leeds and Spurs mean they may still have a huge say in who joins them in the Championship.

Leeds United Team News

In his pre-match press conference, Farke stated that all players who were fit for the victory over Manchester United are available for the Wolves game.

When asked about the injured Joe Rodon, Daniel James, and Anton Stach, the German said: “The first step is team training, and today no one is back in team training, but we have two days. We can always have a surprise.”

On the monumental victory at Old Trafford, he said: “We are pretty proud. We know how much it means to our fans.

“It was great to send them back with such an amazing win but as a group we have to put a line under it. One of the highlights of the season.”

Turning his attention to bottom-placed Wolves, he said: “I’m full of respect. When expectations are high, these are the most difficult.”

He added: “If you look at recent performances, there is no reason not to be humble. Only disappointing result in recent months was last week’s loss [to West Ham].”

Rob Edwards said goalkeeper Sam Johnstone remains unavailable with a shoulder issue. He added that Matt Doherty is ‘pushing’ for a return to the side after being involved in training this week, and the club will make a ‘late call’ on his involvement in the Leeds game.

On last week’s heavy defeat to West Ham: “I think in this league, everyone loses games and you’re going to drop points. The result was horrible but we can’t let that knock us.”

When asked about his side’s ambitions for the remainder of the season, Edwards said: “Whether it’s Friday night games or Monday night games, take the last one aside, I think we’ve shown a good side to ourselves.

“We want to try and get as many points as possible and take it as far as we can.”

On Leeds boss Farke: “I think he’s a brilliant manager. I think he’s done a great job.”

“Elland Road is always a really good atmosphere as well. They’ll be buoyed by the result last time out away at Manchester United so it should be a really good game for us,” he added.
