I feel like Coventry fans are still underappreciating the work Lamps has done. They were all out with pitchforks when he was originally appointed and then when he was getting them into playoffs last year, they grudgingly accepted that he did a decent job, but will always bring up that “Mark Robins set up the foundation and brought the players together”. Then they had the most ridiculous start to the season this year, yet the praise was more measured, but with lot more people acknowledging that they got it wrong when they questioned his appointment. There were also a lot of fans of the opinion that squad was really good, even though they weren’t among the biggest wage spenders and Lamps never got a massive transfer window (Coventry were trying to purchase their ground).
Then Coventry had a massive dip in form and a lot of them wanted him fired, despite the amazing start. He has now delivered them premier league football after twenty five years and most of the comments I see are along the lines of “It was nice of Frank to acknowledge Mark Robins’ role”. Honestly, I don’t think they have the squad to stay in the premier league and they overachieved with how much smooth sailing this year was. I hope Lamps takes the Bournemouth job if it is offered, but he is probably not going to.
