Sandro Tonali has spoken out about the transfer interest in his name, amid a wave of rumours about his future at Newcastle United.

Manchester United are one of the clubs sniffing around after the Italian midfielder, and could look to get a deal done this summer.

CentreDevils exclusively revealed in March that United held talks with Sandro Tonali’s representatives via an intermediary, as the club assesses options ahead of the summer window.

Sandro Tonali breaks silence

In a new interview, Sandro Tonali told Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie that he’s focused on the here and now at his current club, Newcastle United.

“I don’t look at social media, I don’t like it. After my ban I changed everything with social media, I just go to training and then go home and be with my family. My life is much better now,” Tonali admitted.

“In football if you play well you have to deal with the transfer rumours, but if you concentrate 100% on your game, and you’re happy, you don’t have to think about anything or speak about anything.”

Tonali is clearly a level-headed professional, and is keeping his cards close to his chest – especially after Newcastle’s support of him during his 10-month ban from football after breaching betting rules in Italy.

Sandro Tonali’s current Newcastle United contract runs until 2029, after an extension was triggered in January 2026.

A player admired by Manchester United

With the future of Casemiro lying elsewhere, and Manuel Ugarte’s situation up in the air after a tough first two seasons at Manchester United, the midfield is going to be a place of particular interest in the transfer market for the Red Devils.

Sandro Tonali is highly rated internally at United and has many admirers among high officials at the club. While the Italian has pledged his allegiance to Newcastle United for now, he’d be open to the move to Manchester United, as centredevils reported in March.

A midfielder with plenty of technical ability, but also aggression, Sandro Tonali could be an extremely clever signing for Manchester United. While signing the right profile for the position United need is important, a natural leader coming in to replace Casemiro will also be vital.

It is likely to be a move that won’t cost Manchester United as much as number one target Elliot Anderson, as Nottingham Forest search for a Premier League record fee for the England international.

If United don’t end up landing Anderson’s services, or wish to sign more than one midfielder, Sandro Tonali could be a brilliant option to bring in.
