The article lays out 5 reasons we're still favorites:

1) Winning seven games in a row is tough for City.

2) We have a strong record in big games .

3) The run-in favours us.

4) Our underlying numbers are strong.

5) The Opta supercomputer (and betting markets) still backs Arsenal.

  1. Why Arsenal might not win:

    1- city are cheaters

2- Arsenal play in the Champions League

    3- city are cheaters

  2. While I agree Arsenal are still slight favorites to win the league, these predictive analyzes never seem to take into account the very real phenomenon of *momentum*. Arsenal are collapsing on multiple fronts right now, our lone success was an extremely uninspiring 1-0/0-0 round against Sporting Lisbon. We are missing key players at a pivotal time in the season and the offense doesn’t look like it can create anything.

We’ll see how it goes on Sunday, COYG.

  3. call me crazy but i think if we get more points than manchester city we will win the league

Sunday genuinely might decide it, If city win then it’s a huge advantage for city, if arsenal win then it’s a huge advantage for Arsenal, if it’s a draw, it might be like 55% for arsenal and 45% for city

  5. And because we are about to choke so they can double down on clicks & engagement by talking us up now and then calling us bottle job fc Monday morning

Not that they’ll be wrong about that on Monday.

  6. Some good points there, and obviously we all have to be positive and back the team because that’s always going to be better than being negative.

However our record in the big games this season is poor, which is frustrating because excluding this season, our record in the big games was unrivalled. Arteta has implemented this “total control” football which has got us great results in games outside of the Top 6, but not in games in the Top 6.

In previous seasons we’ve taken the most points out of any of the Top 6 but our fine margins football has got us unstuck this season. We’ve narrowly beaten Manchester United and lost to them. We’ve lost to Liverpool and drawn. We’ve beaten and drawn against Chelsea, and won and lost against Villa. And we’ve drawn with Manchester City this season. Arteta won’t change his approach for Sunday (despite what he’s said in his press conference) and unfortunately I don’t see us scoring there, and I can’t see us completely shutting them out either. We will need to score at least 2 goals to get a result there.

If Arsenal win or draw on Sunday, I’ll be a lot more confident of them winning the league.

If they lose, I think it’s already lost from there. Extremely mentally weak, horrid form, and I just don’t think the squad thinks they can do it if they lose to City again. I full expect City to win out, with the only potential exception being Sunday.

I want us to win SO BADLY. I have waited 20 years for it, since I started watching football and supporting Arsenal.

But if we lose it here, this time, and then some Cunt team like Chelsea or Useless bantered team like United goes on to win it before us, I would be so despondent and lost, ( not winning this year will be heartbreaking already), than all the pea-brained fans here who fail to see what the criticism of the team is about and where it comes.

And the many problems are maligning our current setup and the pathetic way we play. Just cause they don’t want to agree, the Horse they supported , despite being Quite good, isn’t as Elite as they initially believed and now they can’t accept it needs Repairs and Improvements.

  9. Me big concern is we have two big games against AM, and they’ve had this past week off. It’s a shame they didn’t lose this week against Bayern rather than one round earlier.

  10. None of these seem to take into account that we are missing 4-6 of our first 11 every game and aren’t the same team that was pummeling everyone earlier on the season with all of them missing

  11. If we win on Sunday, it’s pretty much over. If we beat City and still don’t win the league, I will never be able to defend the team from the bottling allegations agian. If we draw, we’re heavy favourites. We would simply need to match City’s results in order to win the league, and the rest of our season is easier than theirs. If we lose by 1, it’s about 70-30 in favour of City, basically exclusively because of the mental state that both set of players will probably have if it happens. If we get beaten by more, then it would require City to bottle it for us to win the league.

Setting it out like that makes it pretty clear to me that we are still favourites, and I don’t really understand how someone would think we aren’t.

    > Why Arsenal are still the favourites to win the Premier League

Because we’re still the best team in the league

I think we were strong favourites until we lost last week. Even a point would have kept our noses ahead but to lose has opened the door wide open.

Now I think it’s pretty much 50/50, or maybe slightly in City’s favour given they are the more likely winners on Sunday.
