In the closing stages of the match against Real, Bayern fans stormed the pitch at the Allianz Arena. Photographers were injured during the celebrations. Will this have serious consequences for the Munich side?
Following their dramatic home victory against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, FC Bayern Munich face disciplinary action from UEFA. The European governing body has launched disciplinary proceedings against the record-breaking German champions. Among other things, the case concerns incidents involving fans on Wednesday evening – UEFA did not provide any further details.
In the closing stages of the match at the Allianz Arena, a number of Munich fans had climbed over the fence and made their way to the touchline. After the hosts scored the winning goal to make it 4-3 in stoppage time, the jubilant crowd pushed against several photographers sitting behind the advertising hoardings. Bayern player Jamal Musiala also jumped exuberantly into the crowd at that moment, trapping several journalists beneath them.
Will the entire South Stand be closed for the Paris match?
According to police reports, at least two women and two men were injured by spectators during the incident. The Munich Criminal Investigation Department is investigating.
It remained unclear from the UEFA statement whether Bayern now face the prospect of a fan ban, potentially for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain of all matches. Bayern had been handed a ban on the entire South Stand following repeated pyrotechnic incidents involving their own supporters in December 2025. This sanction was suspended by the European football governing body’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body.
It remains to be seen whether the penalty could be enforced during the most important home match of the season in early May. Bayern are battling defending champions PSG for a place in the final of Europe’s premier club competition. The first leg takes place on 28 April away in Paris. The decisive second leg, for which the UEFA sanction could apply, is scheduled for 6 May at Munich’s Allianz Arena.
