  1. Tierney should be ahead of Milne. Also think Moore is unlucky to not be in this but don’t know who you’d really take out for him.

2 old firm players in a TOTY tells the story of the whole season

Honestly I’d have Scott Bain in for Ward, he’s been a great signing for Falkirk, Barney Stewart unlucky not to get in too

I’d say that is probably fair, don’t feel there will be much complaints vs previous years.

If you’re nitpicking you could maybe argue against 1 or 2 but generally speaking this is a fair representation of the season.

Pretty sure this is more players than we had either of the years we finished second, which is nuts. Reckon O’Donnell and Welsh have a right to feel a bit hard done by too even if it’d most likely be McGinn to make way for either of them.

Bit surprised the players didn’t throw Falkirk at least one spot but can’t really argue with Motherwell and Hearts picking up the vast majority.

I thought they usually limit these teams to four players per team so I’d say one too many Motherwell players!

  8. McGinn has had a great season but not sure I’d have him there (especially when he hasn’t played RB this year) ahead of Lissah.

Who am I to argue with the professionals though.

  9. I never really understand these team of the year things. Surely the team of the year is the one that wins the fucking thing?

Are you telling me that 4th place Motherwell have 5 of the best players this season? And 3rd placed Celtic and 2nd placed rangers have only 1 each? How do you figure that out?

It seems like it’s based on “they’ve played better than expected” or “they’ve played good *for them*” or “good *for a 4th placed team*”.

By the same logic if I played a blinding season for Auchinleck Talbot does that mean I’d be up for the Balon d’Or with Mbappe and Vini Jr? Of course not.

The best should be objectively THE BEST. Not just better than expected or better than usual. Or even worse just subjectively chosen.

All else being equal, if you were to hand pick a SPFL select 11 to play a super cup tie vs Real Madrid is this really the team you’re choosing?

It’s mad that the next five games which will shape the season don’t get taken into account for a ‘team of the year’. Say somebody currently not on the list goes on a mad scoring run and leads his team to the title – not included. Say Halkett goes mental and starts scoring OGs for fun – still there. Would it really be that hard to postpone the vote for another month?

Has a team that, at best, will finish in 4th place, ever had 5 players in a TotY?
