"It will be Guardiola’s replacement who has to deal with all the fallout when the Premier League finally announces its judgement over the 115 charges that have been hanging over City in relation to the alleged financial breaches they deny. Does Kompany really want to be in that position? Does he want to face that uncertainty and potential for heavy punishment? Unlikely, in the extreme.
More than anything, it feels like a question of timing. Take a poll of City fans to ask who they would like as their next manager, and Kompany would win by a landslide. Very few would choose Enzo Maresca or feel greatly encouraged that the former Chelsea manager, once a member of Guardiola’s coaching staff, appears to be the favourite for the job.
The biggest point, however, is that Kompany should have everything he wants at his current club.
Bayern are a formidable operation. His relations with the people above him — always a big consideration at the Allianz Arena — are stronger than was the case for Tuchel, a more prickly and divisive figure. The club have some exceptional young players, and if there is one guarantee, it is that they have more success ahead of them.
One day, it feels inevitable that he will return to the club where he spent 11 years as a player, winning four Premier League titles. He might end up being the perfect fit for City. Just not yet, when his work at Bayern is only really just beginning."

personally I wish Pep stays another season, then we have a chance to get kompany
rn, Maresca is heavily linked if pep leaves, I trust our board, but not too excited about that prospect
I think I would prefer to stay in Munich.
If Pep is gone I’d be happy with Xabi
it is fair to expect that a new manager may have questions about what the outcome of the charges will be. I think Kompany wouldn’t be dissuaded by that though.
Lads, I’m coming
If pep is leaving – throw everything at Xabi Alonso.
If pep stays one/two more – pls throw everything at our man
It seems like the surest path, especially if Vinny wins the UCL with Bayern. The Bundesliga is not competitive and he is already a City legend.
I imagine Pep stays for next season and Vinny joins in 2028.
I’m okay with Maresca. He was important in us winning the treble. His Chelsea career is like what? 55 wins 20 losses or so. And 2 trophies.
Chelsea have good players but not as good as City. The Chelsea team is young and they have no leader. No seriously, they don’t. If i remember correctly the oldest players on Chelsea are Robert Sanchez and Cucurella 28 or 29 years old..there is no one on the field for Chelsea to take command. To calm the team down, put his teammates in check. Each team has a captain i know. But 0 leadership qualities on that roster. And Maresca still managed to somewhat make it work.
Now if he comes to City, who he knows. Who have leaders! Age! And experience! We could very well still be dominant as FUCK going forward.
Kompany is the ONLY Pep replacement. He’s the only person that knows what it takes, not just football wise but mentality wise, to manage the most hated team in England.
Maresca, Fabregas and the lot would not be able to handle the press and the refereeing decisions that they’d endure as City manager.
Here’s Hoping If Bayern win the CL, he may think ‘Job Done’ and come home (his Wife is a Manc) to Coach City when Pep leaves 🤞🏻🤔
I’d be over the top excited to see Xabi at the wheel. Would be refreshing
With respect to the names being thrown in, Let’s be honest the only new manager we want is our Captain Kompany 🤞🏻
yep
kompany might need to win a cl trophy before coming just to get deference in tough times from top flight pl players. “might” being the keyword.
The article is certainly right about one thing — no desirable manager will come here until the court case finished and they know what the fallout looks like. We need to get these mf charges over with…
I would almost rather an in-house hire to bide time than a complete outside hire that doesn’t understand the culture that pep built, Vinny has gone from a good potential candidate to the only one that makes sense with this leap in experience
Pep is one of a kind. I can’t imagine anyone replacing him being able to fill his shoes.
When he was relegated with Burnley, Bayern gave him the manager’s job—trusting him, with only one championship title to show for. I don’t think that unless they sack him, he won’t come to us. Let’s concentrate on more practical options.
I dont think Kompany would be our manager right away, he’s got a great team great momentum he will probably want to try to win at least 1 or 2 UCLs with Bayern before managing us.
Kompany is who I want to see at the helm next. 1 million percent.
Idk vinny is basically a manc. If anyone was going to take us from 2nd division back to prem it would be him or pep.
