The Premier League Golden Boot race has always been defined by one metric: goals. But in the modern game, that picture no longer tells the full story. Today’s most influential attackers are judged not only on how often they finish chances, but also on how frequently they create them.

That shift is reflected in the season’s goal contribution rankings, where elite forwards, creative midfielders and hybrid attackers are all measured by their combined impact in both scoring and assisting.

From Erling Haaland’s relentless output at Manchester City to Bruno Fernandes’ chance creation for Manchester United, the numbers reveal a far broader picture of attacking influence across the league.

Which means we can now look at the top 11 players in the Premier League when it comes to their goal contribution numbers.

Erling Haaland – 29 (22 Goals, 7 Assists)

At the top of the list when it comes to goals scored in this season’s edition of the Premier League, the same can be said when it comes to goal contributions. Erling Haaland is the gold standard in terms of attacking output this season as the Norwegian hunts down his third top scorer award since joining Manchester City.

The Norwegian currently has 22 goals to his name, and that has played a considerable role in helping City in their bid to reel in Arsenal at the top of the table. Not only that, but Haaland has also been on hand to create seven goals for his teammates.

This means the 25-year-old has made 29 goal contributions to City’s current tally of 63. This also means he has played a considerable part in 46% of the club’s league goals since the start of the campaign.

Bruno Fernandes – 25 (8 Goals, 17 Assists)

Second in the list and the truest display of a creator instead of a scorer is Bruno Fernandes. The Manchester United midfielder may have only scored eight league goals this season, but has more importantly, made the highest number of assists in this season’s edition of the Premier League.

With 17 assists to his name, Fernandes is now hunting down the current record for assists in a single season. That record stands at 20 and is shared by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20) – leaving the Portuguese international three short with six games left to go.

Those 25 contributions are part of Manchester United’s 57 goals for the season, leaving the 31-year-old with a contribution ratio of 43.8%.

Igor Thiago – 22 (21 Goals, 1 Assist)

Ranked third in the goal contribution list is Igor Thiago, and when it comes to attacking output, the Brentford forward is not known for laying goals on a plate for his teammates. Then again, with 21 goals to his name this season, manager Keith Andrews will be delighted with his selfishness.

The Brazilian has only created a single assist as part of his 22 goal contributions – the purest display of goalscoring in this chart, and with Brentford eyeing up a place in Europe next season, there can be no underestimating just how important Thigao has been to their bid.

The Bees have scored 48 goals this season, giving the 24-year-old a contribution ratio of 45.8%

Antoine Semenyo – 19 (15 Goals, 4 Assists)

Antoine Semenyo finds himself sitting joint-fourth in our list, and considering his numbers have been recorded across two clubs, it is arguably the most impressive of any of their names in our top eleven. Taking to Manchester City like a duck to water, the Ghanaian has made 19 goal contributions this season.

The former Bournemouth star has scored 15 goals this season across his former and current club and even if you took his output at the Vitality Stadium in isolation, it would still be good enough for joint-ninth in the list. (10 Goals, 3 Assists)

Joao Pedro – 19 (14 Goals, 5 Assists)

Sharing fourth with Antoine Semenyo is Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, and although the Blues have had a largely indifferent season, the Brazilian forward has been one of the few highlights when it comes to their transfer dealings.

Joining from Brighton last year, the Brazilian forward has managed 19 goal contributions during his time at Stamford Bridge. 14 goals in his debut campaign in West London, an additional five assists for good measure.

Those 19 contributions come from a total of 53 goals for Chelsea in this season’s Premier League, generating a contribution ratio of 35.8%

Harry Wilson – 16 (10 Goals, 6 Assists)

Sitting joint-sixth is Harry Wilson, and although Fulham may have to miss out when it comes to handing out European places, their Welsh midfielder has done his very best to keep them as part of the conversation for as long as possible.

With 16 goal contributions to his name, the conversation may soon pivot to whether Wilson is still at Craven Cottage at the start of next season. 10 goals and six assists highlight that he is an all-round midfielder with plenty to offer a team higher up the table.

Fulham have scored a total of 43, giving Wilson a contribution percentage of 37.2%.

Jarrod Bowen – 16 (8 Goals, 8 Assists)

Sharing sixth with Harry Wilson is Jarred Bowen, and with his 16-goal contribution being split perfectly down the middle, the West Ham forward is the best example of balance when it comes to scoring and creating goals.

With the Hammers now out of the Premier League’s bottom three, there is no doubting that Bowen’s current contribution to West Ham has been just as important as any other season, perhaps even more, especially if they manage to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have scored 40 goals this season, meaning Bowen has contributed to 40% of them.

Hugo Etikite – 15 (11 Goals, 4 Assists)

An impressive debut season for Hugo Etikite at Liverpool, but one that will end with injury woe. The French international suffering long-term injury in the recent Champions League defeat to PSG, manager Arne Slot still cannot deploy a strike partnership of he and Alexsander Isak.

A partnership that looked ready to go in the final few weeks of this season and with Ekitike making 15 goal contributions for Liverpool, his 11 goals have also seen him become the club’s top scorer in this season’s edition of the Premier League.

Liverpool have scored a total of 52 goals this season, giving Etikite a current contribution of 28.8% – however that figure will only decrease between now and the final day (that is unless Liverpool fail to score in any of their remaining six league games)

Bruno Guimaraes – 13 (9 Goals, 4 Assists)

Rounding out our list our three players who have made a total of 13 goal contributions this season. The tiebreaker is the number of goals scored, and this places Bruno Guimaraes as the highest of the three players in joint-ninth.

The Newcastle midfielder has scored nine this season to go alongside the four assists that he has also crafted since the start of the campaign. The Magpies have scored a total of 45 goals since August, which puts the Brazilian international’s contribution at 28.8%.

Morgan Rogers – 13 (8 Goals, 5 Assists)

Next on the list is Morgan Rogers, and with 13 goal contributions for Aston Villa, the former Middlesbrough forward is making a strong case to be selected in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad.

Those 13 contributions have been split across eight goals and five assists, as Villa look to secure a Champions League return. The West Midlands outfit has scored 43 league goals, giving Rogers a contribution ratio of 30.2%.

Rayan Cherki – 13 (3 Goals, 10 Assists)

Last but certainly not least is Rayan Cherki, and although the Manchester City forward has been lacking in the goals department, he has more than made up for it when it comes to creating assists for his teammates.

Three goals for the Etihad outfit since his arrival from Lyon, but no less than 10 assists and with this being the third City player to make our list, it shows just how holistic Pep Guardiola’s approach to goals has been this season.

Those 13 goal contributions sit within City’s league total of 57, giving the French international a contribution ratio of 22.8%
