George Graham's double and a first half volley from John Radford earned the Gunners a 3-0 win on the night against Sporting, and took us through to the Third Round of the Fairs Cup – a pre-cursor to what is today's UEFA Europa League.

We ended the 1969/70 campaign as champions of the competition, defeating Belgian club Anderlecht 4-3 on aggregate in the two-legged final.
