I’m m thinking its gonna be a nervy 0-0 until Martinelli comes on with another super sub cl performance, like he always does.

Win in 90 mins. No extra time. No red card. No injuries. COYG

I think we should also manage injuries keeping atletico tie in mind. Saka and Ode should not be rushed back tomorrow. We are at home and we can easily stop them from scoring. But semis are gonna be key for us this year.

If we win this, I’ll be more confident for City. We need a statement. Really hope the injuries aren’t too bad either

Atleti got mad energy, worrying that we look more and more tired with each game

Sporting’s a great team and obviously they have a great chance at a remontada, but barring a major collapse I see this being a boring 0:0. It’s nearly impossible to pump us, and if Sporting open up too much I reckon we tear them apart, so I exlect another nervy game but we ultimately prevail.

The least challenging, but not for that least important (maybe a little less important) of the two games this week. Really hard for me not to get excited at the prospect of playing Atlético for a chance in the final when the other side of the bracket has PSG, Bayern, and Real, but we need to get through Sporting CP first, and for that we need to play much better than we did against Bournemouth. I’d start Kai up front with Eze behind him if only because maybe he can do a Martinelli and keep his UCL and PL forms separate. Bring Gyokeres on later on if necessary. His strength is in physically bullying defenders, so if we can play him against tired ones, why shouldn’t we? Hope at least one of the four of Timber, Cala, Saka and Øde makes the bench and gets a couple minutes, and hopefully Hincapie gets a start at LB. Should be a good step in the direction of recovering the ridiculous defensive solidity we built the first half of the season upon. Finally, I know it won’t happen, but I’d love to see MLS in midfield ahead of Rice (if he’s even available), and, if the game allows, for Zubi to come on for Rice in the 60th minute or so. We need those two as fit as possible for Sunday and for the rest of the season.
My delusional prediction is this will be much easier than expected. 2-0 up in the first half, and that’s how it ends. COYG.

This is the best draw I’ve ever seen us have in the CL, I really hope we can take advantage of it. I have more hope for our playstyle in the CL than the PL.

Go out hard, couple of goals early, and rotate hard 3-0 up on agg pls. I don’t need to see rice and Zubi play 90 mins, we cannot afford for this to go to extra time and it would be good to get Norgaard some minutes for the run in

Its all about the team for me. Who we have back and have we lost anyone else. Eze back is massive. I read something earlier saying no Odegaard, Saka, Timber or Calafiori back yet which is a bit of a worry and more so that Rice didnt train today.
So I expect Arteta to play Zubimendi, Havertz and Eze as the midfield 3 and that worries me a bit. Personally I would have looked at MLS, Zubi and Eze in training with MLS as DM and Zubi as the no. 8 and only if it looked like it would work go with that.

More than Saka, Timber has to be back. He’s our best right back and pivotal to our defensive identity. If he’s in rh back 4, I’m much more comfortable facing Lisbon.
They’re not going to come at us immediately. They will bide their time so it’s imperative we hit them early.
