It’ll be three games in six days by the time they finish against Coventry City on Friday night. That means changes at inevitable, with perhaps some likely at Southampton on Tuesday night.

The backline and goalkeeper may remains though with limited options due to injury. Harry Pickering may come in for Yuri Ribeiro but otherwise, Connor O’Riordan, just back from injury, is the only central defender in reserve.

In midfield, there’s more potential to freshen things up. Taylor Gardner-Hickman is an obvious candidate to replace Moussa Baradji as he did in the second half at Stoke.

Mathias Jorgensen will also surely start up front. Todd Cantwell may drop out as he also manages his way back from a foot issue. The question is whether Yuki Ohashi goes again in a deeper role or perhaps is saved for Friday night.

With only two strikers to choose from, I think O’Neill may take him out and avoid playing both number nines. That could open the door for a full Nathan Redmond debut, back at one of his former clubs.

Predicted Rovers XI: Toth; Alebiosu, Atcheson, McLoughlin, Cashin, Pickering; Forshaw, Gardner-Hickman; Morishita, Redmond; Jorgensen.
