United face Leeds this evening

Manchester United can take another giant stride towards qualification for next season’s Champions League when they face Leeds this evening.

The international break, followed by an FA Cup weekend, has meant Michael Carrick’s side haven’t been in action for more than three weeks, but the prolonged break did afford them the opportunity to travel to Ireland for a four-day training camp.

Diogo Dalot and Matthijs de Ligt were the big-name absentees from the trip, but the former will be back in time for the clash with Daniel Farke’s men. He will start in a back four alongside Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, with Harry Maguire serving a suspension following his red card against Bournemouth. Senne Lammens is the undisputed No.1 and will start in goal.

The midfield picks itself with Kobbie Mainoo starting next to Casemiro, while Bruno Fernandes is the first name on the team sheet and will start as the No.10.

Patrick Dorgu travelled with the squad for the training camp during the break but he won’t return in time to face Leeds and so Matheus Cunha can continue on the left. It looks set to be a shootout between Amad and Benjamin Sesko for a spot in the XI, and the former is likely to get the nod.

Amad can start on the right with Bryan Mbeumo leading the line. Sesko will be a good option off the bench if United need a different attacking threat in the second half.

Joshua Zirkzee enjoyed his finest performance of the season in the reverse fixture at Elland Road and he too could be a useful option off the bench.
