Manchester United manager Michael Carrick wants the club to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa at the end of the season.

He worked with the 23-year-old playmaker during their time together at Middlesbrough, and he has recommended Jason Wilcox to make a move for the player, as per TEAMtalk.

Man United need Morgan Rogers

Rogers is one of the finest young talents in English football right now, and he has been outstanding for Aston Villa. He has registered 27 goals and 24 assists in all competitions for the Premier League club. He will only improve with coaching and experience, and he could develop into an elite playmaker in the Premier League.

Manchester United need a long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes, and the England International could be the ideal fit for them. They will be hoping to compete with Arsenal and Manchester City next season. They need more quality in the final third. Signing a quality attacking midfielder like Rogers will help them create more opportunities. He is versatile and can play centrally as well as on the flanks. In addition, they should invest in another striker.

Rogers will cost a premium

However, he will be very expensive, and Aston Villa will not make it easy for him to leave. They are looking to build a formidable team capable of regularly competing in Europe. They are pushing for Champions League qualification for the upcoming campaign. Losing Rogers would be a huge blow for them. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United is prepared to pay a premium for him.

The report claims Aston Villa will demand a club record fee to sell the player. He could cost around £100 million.

Convincing the Aston Villa star to join the club will not be difficult. He will want to test himself at a high-level, and Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

  1. One football as source… I know multiple has said we are interested in Rogers, but everything additional ro that I’ll take with a HUGE grain of salt..

Whyyyy…. When we are one injury away from having to play academy players in central midfield

Only makes sense if Bruno ends up leaving.

We don’t need another hybrid winger / attacking mid / forward with Cunha already at the club.

    Morgan rogers isn’t 10% Bruno is and he’s 100m???

What the hell is value assessment. He’s no more than 50m and that’s purely based off potential.

120 mill and he can leave, and as a villa fan Rogers is good 50 percent of the time so il take the money and build.

Ah yes onefootball the best source of all time. Tier not 2 not 1 but tier god level.

  7. Reasons he would be very expensive:

    * He’s got 5 years left on his contract with no release clause.

    * He’s one of our best players and certainly our best younger player.

    * He’s now regularly starting for England and has proven his quality at Champions League level.

    * Premier League young player of the season.

    * We have to give a percentage of profit to Middlesbrough.

    * He has not yet agitated for a big move at all, though I’m sure he would take one if he can get it.

Reasons we would potentially sell him for a huge offer rather than holding on to him:

    * We will have difficulty meeting the terms of our settlement with UEFA, which could lead to a ban in future, if we don’t make a big transfer profit.

    * We need to do quite a lot of business in the summer with some players nowhere near good enough and others past their prime, so selling Rogers might be necessary to fund a rebuild.

    * Our other high quality players that we could sell are a bit older so we wouldn’t get as much for them, or in Kamara’s case too often injured.

    * Half the time he looks like a £150m player and is near unstoppable. The other half he wouldn’t look out of place in League 1. There is very little in between. That lack of consistency often hurts us because everything runs through him. He’s also not a great finisher so despite his quality, he doesn’t get great scoring numbers.

  8. Why is an interim manager making player demands? These “articles” are so fucking dumb.
