Manchester United may be prioritising a move to bolster their midfield this summer above all else, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other glaring holes in the squad that need to be addressed.
Alongside the heart of the team, a new left-winger is expected to arrive with big interest in a number of players, while centre-back has also been discussed as an area that could be strengthened if the right opportunity arises, despite the new contract for Harry Maguire being confirmed this week.
But one area that is in need of new blood is left-back, and the club may now have been given the green light to make a huge upgrade in the position.
Man Utd Hold Talks to Sign Alphonso Davies

According to reports, Man Utd have held talks with Bayern Munich about a deal to sign Alphonso Davies this summer.
The Canada international recently recovered from a serious knee injury, but has had some trouble with his fitness since and hasn’t been able to reclaim his starting spot under Vincent Kompany, with the team flying both domestically and in Europe without him.
Despite signing a new long-term contract at the Allianz Arena until 2030 last year, United are hopeful of being able to convince him of a move to Old Trafford to kickstart his career once more, especially with the World Cup this summer allowing him to put himself into the shop window.
Now, it has emerged that Bayern Munich would be open to allowing him to move on this summer for the right fee, essentially giving Man Utd the green light to get a deal done if they really want to.
Man Utd Must Go All Out to Sign Davies

When United signed Luke Shaw way back in 2014, the idea was that he would be the long-term left-back at the club for the next decade. While that has turned out to be true, the path to get there has been a tricky one.
Shaw’s fitness concerns have been a big problem for most of his time at the club, and while he is the only player to have started every Premier League game this season, he is out of contract in 2027 and on the wrong side of 30.
The chance to sign a player like Davies, who has been described as ‘world-class’, doesn’t come around very often, and even on Shaw’s best day he isn’t as good as Davies. At 25, he still has the best years of his career ahead of him too, so this is a deal INEOS need to make happen.
