A throw in from the half way line gets directly in behind our defence…

that last one is just fucking crazy lol

Our throw ins have always annoyed me, I thought it was a Trent/Robbo thing but no different with Frimpong or Kerkez. Stand there for 15 seconds looking scared shitless, finally throw it down the line onto the head of an opposition player.
I can’t believe we had a dedicated throw in coach not that long ago

I think the most UNFORGIVABLE part about the current tactics is that all our players just seem to have completely forgotten how to play football in any form whatsoever at all. These are premier league champions being exploited like schoolboys.

We obviously decided on this set up after being humbled by City, so we literally would’ve had a couple of training sessions to practice, and we thought it would be wise to show up at the home of the European champions and go with it. We were honestly incredibly lucky it was only 2.

We’re a dream to play against just space and players who are beyond confused at what they are supposed to be doing

Sliced open by throw-ins! Absolute garbage tactics

Said it in the Daily, but this is exactly what you should expect when you prioritise man over controlling the most important zones on the pitch.

Can someone please explain to me how the first and last one can happen at a professional level. The second isn’t great but from those two – dead ball, plenty of time to get into our shape and a throw in takes half the team out of the game. PSG quite clearly identified that as a frailty well ahead of time.
waisonline99 on
Nevermind the throw-ins, every single pass they made, their man was open and unchallenged so they were popping it about at will.
Only Macca was going in and Ibu was like an octopus.
Both got a yellow card for their troubles.

Babe wake up, PSG just dropped another tactic everyone is going to copy
*Launching long throws into the penalty area is out, launching them straight into transition is in

Is “the shape” in the room with us now?

In a weird way I think us being so shite kinda helped keep the score down; I don’t think PSG could believe how easy it was for them

Sorry this whole Alonso wouldn’t change anything with these players is becoming more and more bs by the day. He would provide much more structure and defensive solidity then this

I don’t understand why every other team seems to have so much space compared to us lol. Whenever we play against a 5 at the back/low block, our players have barely a yard to breathe, yet when we play this, the other team has acres of space.

The 1st one is the one really illustrating our flawed shape on the pitch.
The 3rd one is just plain criminal.

Yeah we play perhabs the best on the ball team itw player for player, let’s press in 2 straight lines and pile every defender on one side and let’s also just for fun have our back like at the middle of the pitch on a throw in against some of the fastest attackers in the world. Absolute tactical genius

We don’t defend throw-ins. At all.

How can you compare these to these latest incomparable Joe G long throws that pierce through inside the opposition box???
That the throws don’t reach our players is another matter but how could you!?

omg our defensive shape is so chaotic rn.. like we’re literally giving them free runs down the wing every time.

Imagine doing an easy central midfield pass from a throw in! What this shows is that the players lack discipline tracking their man.
BobbysShinyPearls on
The first two are players just losing track of their man. Szobo pressing forward and getting beat with a simple ball behind. Second Maca is squeezing in and gets turned easily.
