I’m not convinced this is true anymore… I used to think this was the case as this applies for the previous format. But I’m pretty sure I read that this no longer applies with that new format. You’d think Sky Sports would verify this though…

Villa have had bad spell at home but in the Europa they’re clearly a favourite to win, they’d probably be wise to concentrate resources on that rather than finishing in the top 5. That said they do have a bit of room to lose again.
