The Essex based club were officially relegated from the fifth-tier with three games left to play after a goalless home draw against Woking on Easter Monday.

This ends their stay in the top flight of non-league football after two seasons, and is their third relegation from the National League in the past ten campaigns.
The Iron manager Steve Pitt insisted that their issues stem beyond their on-field struggles, and has called for action from the club.
“There are some serious problems here that have to be addressed off the pitch, that I deal with on a daily basis.” he said to BBC Essex.
“If this club is going to rise again, those issues have got to be addressed, and there are lots and lots of them. There’s not a manager at this level that’s working under the conditions that I am. That’s a fact.”

Smith signed for Braintree last summer to return to English football for the first time since 2024 following his departure from A-League outfit Auckland FC.
The now 36-year-old came through the youth ranks at Portman Road, where he went on to make over 250 appearances for the Blues.
