[Pablo San Mauro]: Instead of going for Olise, Chelsea ended up signing Pedro Neto (who still seemed like a good bit of business to me), Joao Félix, and Sancho. The following summer, Garnacho and Jaime Gittens arrived. All in, they cost 220 million. Olise, 54M.

  1. The fee was never the issue though. It was his wages. Same as Osimhen. Issue still remains though that if not willing to pay the big bucks, you won’t get the big boys needed.

Hairy bastards like this pop up all the time Olise has a good performance.

Yes he’s good, yes he should be playing for us but something went wrong and we didn’t sign him. Honestly so jarring

  3. Hindsight is 20/20. Instead of signing drogba, cech and lampard we could’ve signed 5 bums

This just in, Chelsea owners buy a lotto ticket and lose, winning numbers revealed the next day.

Seriously, every club buys players, some are great, some are Mudryk. Look at Hazard Madrid. Hindsight is 20/20

Seems like we could go back and look at nearly every transfer in every window over the past 30 years and find some other player who worked out as well or better somewhere else for less cost. That’s a fool’s game.

  6. Of course CFC LDN would hold talks with CP FC . Look at all the kids they’re collecting

Our strategy is clearly to buy young talent, develop them, then presumably sell most of them.

You can’t judge whether our strategy is a failure or a success this early on.

Feels revisionist since really we went in to sign palmer who positionally at the time was much more like for like with olise than any other mentioned replacement

  9. 90% of the people on this sub didn’t want him anyway, we had him twice and fumbled him both times. The first time because of our incompetence and the second because we’re cheap

You don’t understand Olises wages were too high if only we had the money to pay his wages /s

Yes. And Chelsea could have signed Mbappe as well for less than their overall spend. But just like Olise, he didn’t want to come to Chelsea.

  12. I think r/chelseafc has finally put it together, big wages = big players. The sporting directors have their own agenda though.

  13. I keep seeing Garnacho and Gittens being brought up but they play on the opposite side to Olise.
