City’s win over Millwall continued their upward momentum under Philippe Clement and has perfectly set up a meeting with their arch-rivals at Carrow Road on Saturday, with Norwich desperate to respond after their first derby defeat since 2009.

Schwartau was the goalscorer in that derby defeat and is hungry for both revenge and to repay supporters.

“I think it’s the perfect way to go into that game. We’re just looking forward to it. All the support they’ve shown for us, we just want to show it back. We’re very, very glad for all the support they’ve given us and we want to give it back to them.”

“Derbies, they’re always the best game to play. So, to be fair, I’m just really looking forward to Saturday right now,” Schwartau said.

“The way we’ve been playing lately has been very good. So of course, we just want to keep going. We take this win with us with a good performance and keep going to the next important game.”

Those important games are a welcome reminder of what the teenager has missed in recent months. He sat out seven matches with a hamstring injury sustained in their FA Cup fourth-round victory over West Brom in February, joining a lengthy list of absentees.

Schwartau returned in City’s flat Good Friday draw with struggling Portsmouth and provided the winner from the bench as the Canaries secured an impressive victory in the capital on Easter Monday.

For the teenager, it closes the book on a tough chapter that involved contending with his fitness comeback.

“It’s been weird. It’s my first time ever being injured,” Schwartau said. “So watching the games from the sideline, it feels a little bit weird, but the lads have been doing great.

“I think just my head was always like, I always want to get back out there playing with the guys.

“When you’re injured, you have a little bit of think time.  I have my family and my friends here to help me through. So, yeah, I’m glad I’m on the other side now.”
