Poole Coastguard teams were called at around 3pm on April 3 after reports that an individual had been injured while walking along the beach.
Crew members who were already at the station carrying out training were immediately tasked by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre to respond.
On arrival, Coastguard Rescue Officers carried out a full assessment and provided specialist casualty care, treating the injured person at the scene.
Due to delays in an ambulance from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust reaching the location, a decision was made to transport the casualty to hospital by private vehicle.
Members of Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Team also attended, helping to maintain a safety cordon around the casualty due to the busy promenade.
The casualty was safely transferred into a vehicle and taken to Poole Hospital for further treatment.
Coastguard teams later thanked members of the public who assisted before their arrival, helping move the casualty to safety, care for their dog, and support onward transport.
All teams were stood down following a short debrief.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the amazing members of the public, who assisted this casualty this afternoon.”
