Heading into the second leg of the tie after a narrow 47-43 victory at Wimborne Road on Friday night, Poole knew a tough test faced them if they were to earn their first aggregate point of the campaign.
But heat advantages in the first two heats, including the first 5-1 from 16-year-olds Will Cairns and Cooper Rushen and the first for Pirates this season, set the visitors off to a flyer.
The hosts remained in the contest and drew the meeting level after six, but another 5-1 from guest Jason Edwards and Rushen in heat eight swung the meeting back into Poole’s favour.
Pirates further extended their advantage in the tenth as 4-2 heat advantages for Plymouth in heats 13 and 14 weren’t enough to get them back into the tie, and Pirates rounded the night off with a 4-2 of their own.
The first heat of the night saw two guests take to the track, one for Pirates and the other for the Gladiators.
Edwards came in for Poole skipper Zach Cook due to commitments in Poland, while Simon Lambert guested in place of Tobias Thomsen, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on Friday.

Pirates made a strong start as both Richard Lawson and Edwards gated, but Gladiators number one Danny King went inside Edwards at the start of lap two to split the Poole pair.
A good start continued in heat two as Cairns and Rushen lived up to their billing as two top prospects, as they cruised to a 5-1, the first of the tie in the 17th heat.
Plymouth responded with a 4-2 of their own from the gate, as Ben Barker led Kyle Newman and Joe Thompson.
Heat four saw Lewis Kerr get around the outside of both Daniel Klima and Scott Nicholls for the victory and a shared heat after the Plymouth pair had led for two laps.

Another 3-3 followed in heat five as Barker got past Edwards at the start of lap two for the victory with Lawson in third.
Plymouth drew themselves level in heat six with a maximum from King and Lambert as they went clear from the gate, while the scores moved to 21-21 after seven with Nicholls notching the heat win ahead of Newman and Fraser Bowes.
But Poole once again moved clear in heat eight.
Edwards and Rushen both started well and held position ahead of Lambert and Klima for a 5-1.
They looked on for another maximum in the ninth as Kerr and Cairns gated, but Barker and Thompson made their way past the reserve for a 3-3.

However, Poole did not have long to wait before they extended their advantage yet again, as Bowes soared to victory in heat ten ahead of Newman, who managed to come out on top after a battle with King.
The lead was now eight points on the night, and 12 points on aggregate, and that margin held for the next two heats.
Lawson took the win in heat 11 as the points were shared, before Thompson led Cairns and Newman for a 3-3 in the 12th.
Plymouth knew they needed maximum points from the final three heats to send the aggregate point to a superheat, but that was lost in heat 13.
Lawson looked to be heading for a victory and a 3-3 but he was reeled in by Nicholls down the back straight in lap two to see a 4-2 heat advantage go the way of the hosts.
Another 4-2 to Plymouth came in the 14th, after Rushen went down in the second bend calling all four back.

In the re-run, Barker led Bowes and Rushen was fighting hard to pass Tom Spencer, and passed his opposite number on the run to the line, but Spencer went down and the Pirate was excluded.
Poole made certain of the meeting victory in the final heat as Lawson looked unchallenged out in front, while Nicholls crossed in second despite pressure from Kerr, who came third for a Pirates 4-2.
That confirmed a 48-42 away win for the Pirates and a 95-85 aggregate victory across the two meetings to seal a strong start to their BSN Series campaign as they look to reclaim the title they lost in last season’s final to Redcar.
