Mareclino Nunez and Wes Burns are among the Ipswich Town players who are ‘touch and go’ to face Birmingham City on Monday.

Chilean midfielder Nunez has been sidelined for the last month with a hamstring injury, while Burns has been recovering from a calf complaint for the last three weeks.

However, the duo could come back into contention to face Birmingham at Portman Road, while a handful of other players are also set to be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Town boss Kieran McKenna said: “It’s going to be touch and go (for Nunez and Burns). Of course, we won’t take any unnecessary risks. But we want to have as many of the players back.

“There are a few in that bracket, I think. If we get through the next week, we’ll be in a really, really strong position in terms of availability, Leif (Davis’) suspension and the injuries that we do have.

“But from Monday, we’ll have to make the right decisions according to how people look in the next few days.”

Meanwhile, Jack Taylor is set to be included in the squad after he pulled out of Republic of Ireland duty due to his wife’s illness.
